TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! TEXT FROM KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER CLAIMS THAT HICKMAN SCHOOL BOARD NEEDS FULL-TIME EFFORT TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS!!!

An important bit of testimony and text sent our way which offers opinion on Hickman Mills School District that won't make it to mainstream media . . .

"It’s unbelievable really. People sometimes forget that school boards are the real boss in a school district. They are the ones that set the tone and expectations. At a time when the Hickman Mills School District is not much more than a Kansas City School District wannabe, you would think the school board would be doing everything it could to turn things around. How can that happen, though, without seven dedicated board members?

People need to think about that in the upcoming April election. George Flesher has filed to run again; yet, when he was on the board he was really only part time. Many times he couldn't attend extra or special meetings and often left regular meetings early. At least with him the voters will have a choice.

With Bonnaye Mims there is no choice. She has begun her term as a state rep but intends to finish her term as a board member. That’s two more years as a part time board member. Legally she can do that, but ethically it’s just not right. South Kansas City will never get its much needed development until the school district turns around. Ms. Mims needs to turn in her resignation so she can devote her full attention to state matters; and allow someone to be appointed to the school board who can devote their full attention to it."

On the bright side, I think everybody learns something when Melissa Debling and Jodie Gasson are part of a discussion about education.

I thought the school district ran itself with oversight from the board.

Mims has to go. There's no way she can be effective in either position. I wonder if those who voted for her for state rep knew she would only be part time.
