As a lifelong resident of KC, I am ashamed and sickened that this occurred, that our Mayor, City Manager, & City Council have remained suspiciously silent about it, and that our local "mainstream" media have totally ignored such a juicy story. How about some hard-hitting, investigative reporting? You're all cowards and don't deserve to call yourselves journalists.
Who could ask for a better example of the corruption of the system, for this to go on for this long with so little attention? This feels more like Chicago, Detroit, or New Orleans.
I retire next year and we're packing up and leaving because we've become so disgusted with the civic "leaders" and their bone-headed decisions. I've always been proud to be from Kansas City, but our politicians' antics have finally wore me down to the point where my disgust of them outweighs my love of everything else around here.
