First, I guess I missed the part where it says he got a free pass. The liked article said, "Police say that once the file is complete, it will be submitted for review to the juvenile court who will decide whether charges will be filed." Sounds like any decisions are yet to be made.
Second, based on the limited info in the article, what could the kid be charged with? I'm no lawyer, but doesn't a threat of a crime or plan to commit a crime have to have some sort of overt act to qualify as a crime?
Granted, from what little info we've been provided, the behavior was stupid and probably deserves an ass-whipping from mommy & daddy, but it's hard to charge someone with a crime if you don't have evidence of a crime.
The student escaped without punishment by arguing that she was only emulating President Obama in composing a "kill list" and since she has no reasonable expectation of accessing drone technology, the threat was benign.
Fuck, if the kid was a NIGGER, they wouldn't have even arrested him..
