From our understanding, this is now an internal City matter and may result in future discipline within any City department involved. information about the findings is Currently at a premature state and may not be accurate. We are currently in the process of conducting our own investigation of BCBS and the City of Kansas City for the purposes of accountability on all levels. The Fire Fighters, Paramedics and EMT‘s of Kansas City are hardworking, dedicated and upstanding public servants that take pride in the City they serve.

I think I'll put my trust in the FBI investigation. The firefighters and city investigating their own doesn't instill trust. The city's "internal auditor" isn't the sharpest person. I hope BCBS is also investigating--those city crooks had inside help.
It would be best if the FBI moved in now perhaps carrying an injunction from a federal judge to order the firefighters to step away from the evidence. No one would want to see any evidence destroyed.
What about the (Fire)Chiefs' union? That is separate from 42.
The big news will involve KCPD.
Hit them with felony convictions and take away their livelihoods.

How nice for those firemen (yep, I said it) to get to race to nursing homes, deliver dialysis patients to their appointments and fight fires (although that has dropped by a large percentage over the past 22 years as we build and rehab better structures). BlueCross and BlueShield should be under criminal investigation as well. Furthermore, why has the Missouri Insurance Commissioner been so quiet? How much money did BCBS, its executives and board members give Jay Nixon, the Insurance Commissioner's boss? How much money did the Governor get from the KC firefighters? Find those numbers, and the silence of the Insurance Commissioner might be easier to explain.

I overheard a BCBS board member at a political event last week who said that they would not know about the problem yet if they had not been tipped off by a senior administrator in JaxCo. So much for internal controls?

The BCBS program was ripe for fraud. As a spouse of someone who had access to this program, I saw that from the beginning. I did participate for a single year, and was honest in my reporting of activities. It was not a simple task to document. I continued to exercise (and still do to this day), but gave up documenting in the BCBS program. It was more trouble than it was worth...

You would think the Insurance Department would have put a stop to that program when it was clear it was rife with fraud? Do you know whether state examiners ever questioned the program?
Why would this EMT be fired when a paramedic who has federal charges for medicare fraud was not fired and is now a dispatcher? The EMT only has charges, he has not been convicted. Innocent until proven guilty, except in the case of the paramedic-dispatcher who has been guilty of medicare fraud 2 times in the past.
