More Kansas City Public School Indecision

Another lesson in Kansas City Public School FAIL . . . Let's not forget that eliminating middle-schools was touted as a "forward-thinking change" that would transform the district . . . And now there's second guessing from a district that hasn't made significant improvement in more than a generation: The Kansas City school district is forming an advisory committee to discuss the possibility of bringing back middle schools.

KSHB: Could middle schools come back to KCPS?

  1. Here's What To Do1/9/13, 7:27 AM

Turn them all into juvenile prisons.

As schools, the KCPS are a joke. We might as well use them as prison prep, because that's all they are worth anyway - and the output of the district is mostly felons anyway.

  2. Surprise surprise.

Just waiting for the state to takeover. Couldn't happen soon enough.

  3. The only forward thinking at the schoold board is how to hold on to jobs until retirement.

  4. Which wont be happening. I give the current board until Aug 2013 or December 2013. If the state doesn't intervene at this point, they're showing they really don't care. Enough is enough.

  5. The whole country moved to the middle school concept of team teaching a few decades ago. KC was moronic for leaving it. But they're not known for good decisionmaking.

  6. They would do well to get rid of the pseudo intellectual a-hole board chair and get someone who has even basic experience in education. He seems nice enough but is not getting the job done. If I governed or managed something that performed this poorly, I would be out of a job.

  7. 9:25am You are wrong. It is about how to double dip on retirement. Every key position is now filled by previously retired administrators suggested by DESE. Take a closer look at who's there.

  8. 10:58 We are talking about the school board, no? There is maybe 1-2 retired admin. The rest of the board had no prevs experience in education at all(that I recall reading).

  9. There is nothing wrong with them trying to help teachers keep their jobs until retirement. But it seems that is the union doing that moreso than the board. They are trying to secure their own positions on the board more than anything.
