AP on low marks: "A report released Monday by StudentsFirst gives Missouri an overall grade of D-minus.
"It says the state should require school districts to make teacher effectiveness the driving factor in decisions about pay, tenure and layoffs. In addition, it urges state government to improve the selectiveness and quality of alternative certification options."

It is the Republican design: keep the populace stupid and scared.
ReplyDeleteStudents First is Education Deform. Michele Rhee, Jeb Bush, COWS, what more do you need to know.
ReplyDeleteWhat? They should have gotten an "F"!
ReplyDeleteMany of the districts in MO are top notch districts (blue springs, lees summit, indep, grain valley and many other suburban districts). I would have to presume its KCPS, Hickman Mills and STL bringing the grade down, or the previously mentioned districts bringing the grade up from an F.
ReplyDeleteMichelle Rhee continues her descent into parody. You might have thought that teaching students to read would be a good way to evaluate educational performance, but no. Rhee's StudentsFirst organization has released a report card grading states—on their education policies, not their educational results. In fact, not one of the states StudentsFirst ranks in the top five is in the top half of states on the National Assessment of Educational Progress, "the nation's report card," when it comes to eighth grade reading scores, and only one is in the top half when it comes to eighth grade math.
ReplyDeleteOf course StudentsFirst would say that we are a D-, in fact, I really thought they would give us an F. They want the money, the State take over, and the urban schools in their back pocket so they can further ruin the urban Districts and then take off running when called for accountability. They are a hoax, a sham and all of that...no one in his/her right mind would believe any report issued by that organization. Yet they continue to get funding purposely to discredit any one but themselves...they are not protecting Missouri's school children, but their own advancement of their personal agenda. Hopefully, they will get away from here and soon...but probably they will hang on and keep hammering to get what they want. Are they planning another failed Happy Hour soon?
