Why do they waste everyone's time when they do "nationwide" searches for these public safety jobs? No one from the outside is ever hired and yet we here in this dirty old town wonder why nothing ever changes and public safety still remains mediocre and dysfunctional. Note to candidates from other parts of the country: don't even waste your time filling out the paperwork or making the long, boring ass flight to flyover country. Not the worst choice as far as suppression goes. However, it will not solve the EMS situation. When he was Deputy Chief of EMS, he thought AMBULANCE was spelled ECNALUBMA because that is what it said on the hood.
Chief Berardi is the right man for the job. You won't find any person on the KCFD who cares more about the job than him.
He is also a person who is fair, and is smart enough to know he needs input from all to get the job done.
We are lucky to get him as oour Fire Chief. There are tough issues out there that he will handle in the best way possible.
If all parties get on board, he will be successful.
