Take a look at the cost of the Kansas City Toy Train running off track . . .
Sorry to the tipster who told us about this earlier . . . Last week was hectic . . . Waited too long but this report has a great run down on the pricey disaster:
Streetcar spurs replacement of Main Street bridge over I-670
Now the EXCLUSIVE question . . . MO DOT and KCMO will fight over who picks up the tab on that one and it's not going to be pretty.

ReplyDeleteGo back to Iowa.
ReplyDeleteHold on to your wallet
ReplyDeleteAs I have said about this toy train may times hold on to your ass and wallet because you ain't seen nothing yet.
ReplyDeleteGo back to Raytown and bury your "earnins" in a coffee can out back.
ReplyDeleteThis is a city, bumpkins. Get fucking used to it.
I agree with Superdave. Anticipate many more cost overruns and weak-assed justifications from our beloved Sly and Clowncil before this useless boondoggle is complete.
ReplyDeleteThe 2007 makeover of that bridge was only designed to extend its life 10 years. Streetcar starts running 2015, bridge life ends at 2017. Logic says replace the bridge in 2013 when you're about to cut into it anyway to lay streetcar tracks.
ReplyDeleteAs an added bonus, truck drivers will now get better clearance on I-670 below and pedestrians will get wider sidewalks.
Tony, do you even read the links that you post. It says no street car authority money will be used. Also, MoDOT owns the bridge which was slated to be rebuilt in 2017. Get lost.....fuck!
