Kansas City Alamo Drafthouse Mainstreet Parking Advice For Clueless Suburbanites
Remember that if, by happenstance, drivers turn to TKC and ask for help finding a parking spot, the automatic response is: "How much does a job like that pay?"
Alamo Drafthouse is slightly more helpful on the subject. Check their advice:
"If you want to spend all day at Alamo Drafthouse (and we hope you do!), Cosentino’s Parking Garage (located on 13th and Main) offers FREE PARKING Sunday- Wednesday and $2 parking all day Thursday – Saturday with validation.
"For most, your best bet is the Cosentino’s Parking Garage. This is the closest parking garage in The Power and Light Area that we do validate; our validation is good for the durration of your visit and should provide you with enough time to catch a movie and grab a drink in the Chesterfiled! Just ask our box office staff to validate your garage ticket and we will hook you up!
"If you don’t mind a bit of a walk, then you can find plenty of free street-parking starting after 6pm all around our beautiful theater, our favorite being the parking spots on 14th and Baltimore, but those can fill up quickly on the weekend and during events.
"When event parking is in effect there will be an attendant outside Cosentino’s Parking Garage. On these nights, you need to give them the name and showtime of the movie you’re about to see and parking is only $2. If you do pay the event parking fee and come to the theater to validate, we will not be able to do so. Parking will only be $2 when you tell the attendant that you are going to the Alamo to see a particular movie at the time you park."

Took in a flick with my wife at the Alamo Drafthouse on Wednesday January 2 and was told that Cosentino parking was free with Alamo validation. I paid $6 and Alamo has been unresponsive to my email inquiries. Not a great start to the year for Alamo.
Sounds Ike a big fucking hassle to me.
Who from suburbia would go to Power & Light to see a movie?
I go. I go because of Alamo's no nonsense turn off your phone and shut the hell up during the movie policy. Plus, you can have a meal and drink a beer while watching the movie. Some asshole next to you starts texting or talking during the movie, turn the card up and the staff will give one warning to the offender and then out they go.
