FACT OF LIFE: KANSAS CITY STREETS WERE A DANGEROUS MESS LAST NIGHT DESPITE PROMISES TO FIX INFRASTRUCTURE!!!

During the reign of the current Kansas City Mayor and City Council there have been no less than THREE MAJOR TAX INCREASES along with a hit to our bond rating that threatens to bring this town one step closer to financial oblivion.
In almost every instance these tax increases have been described as "imperative and necessary" to keep this town running along with a promise that unfulfilled efforts to fix local infrastructure and finally get around to deferred maintenance will be realized.
To wit . . .
LAST NIGHT KANSAS CITY ROADS WERE A DANGEROUS MESS AND REVEALED THAT MAYOR SLY HASN'T DONE MUCH TO CLEAN UP THE STREETS IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY!!!
"Local police agencies report well over 100 traffic crashes on the evening of New Year’s Eve and the early-morning hours of New Year’s Day, but none involved any serious injuries or fatalities . . .
The Kansas City Police Department reported 85 crashes from 6 p.m. Monday to midnight with another 35 between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m."
One of these crashes even involved Kansas City Police . . .

So . . .
Clearly, all of these "emergency" efforts to increase taxes haven't resulted in any swift effort to change the substandard conditions of local streets and infrastructure.
In the meantime. We want to remind folks that there's nothing but more efforts to increase local taxes planned for this year using the same rhetoric which cites the rising tax rate as "imperative" while the local political elite seem more concerned with toy trains and other pet projects.
DEVELOPING . . .

City of Idiots. What ya expect civilized progress?
The whole concept of local government providing basic services to the citizenry is lost on the KCMO "leadership". If it weren't for the crappy bells & whistles, we wouldn't have anything at all to show for our money.
Snowflake hits TKC on the head. Hysteria ensues. Retreats to cave to wait for shadow while proclaiming disaster.
Shut up McGurk.
So what else do you know?
The streets were fine. I was so fucking drunk that I didn't even notice.
TKC I'm all for proclaiming how inept our city government can be.....BUT it's snowed yesterday how is that their fault? There are plenty of real stories so attack them! Your credibility takes a hit and its frankly annoying reading stories you write like this. I drove around plenty last night and no accidents. Drunks/moron drivers+slightly slick conditions=accidents
"Car, KCPD cruiser collide near 43rd, Benton"?
That's because the street light that used to be there was removed and replaced with a stop sign.
Well done, Kansas City!
It's only going to get worse when $100 million has to be diverted from routine city services like snow removal to pay for the cost overruns on the toy train.
