So, last night we talked about the Mayweather event that didn't happen and the inevitable backlash.
And now City Hall has been sparked into taking a bit of action for a change.
Here's the damage and some pretty great reporting:

ReplyDeleteYour tax maoney is doled out every day to organizations and individuals for all kinds of reasons that rarely have anything to do with good government or what's best for residents.
Friendship, promises, threats, and all manner of other insider deals from TIF bond attorneys, consultants, developers, community activists, and who knows who else. Even to folks who are just such pains in the butts the city throws money at them just to go away.
And ask yourself why, with all the prominent east side "leaders" the city feels it has to pay someone from out of town to make a presentation to young people?
And now, on to the streetcar, the downtown hotel, and the taxpayer-subsidized ALDI store.
A city that works.
Just not for you.
At least not if you have better things to do than hang around city hall day after day trolling for money.
