MO HOUSE REP. HAS AN EXPLANATION FOR HIS TAX DRAMA WHICH REVEALS HE HASN'T REALLY BEEN IN KANSAS CITY THAT LONG!!!
I guess in Kansas City being a carpetbagger politico counts as experience . . .
Anyhoo, Mr. LaFaver's response basically goes like this . . .
"First things first: this lien was filed in error, as was confirmed to me by MODOR shortly after I learned of it, 3 years ago. I was assured by MODOR that the matter was closed and that the lien had been removed, and am now in contact with MODOR to see that this is corrected. "
In order to confirm that he solved this "error" that happened 3 years ago, Mr. Lafaver presents letter THAT'S DATED THIS MONTH!!!
I think the most appropriate response from the comments is this one . . .
"Mr. L's response is both lame and incomplete. It wasn't a matter of an inaccurate lien; the state SUED him and THEN he moved to correct the billing.
For those who say $2k, big deal; it is a big deal if it reflects how he handles business. And it probably wouldn't be a big deal if he hadn't brought up fiscal responsibility first!"
Either way . . . This is what we know for sure . . .
WITHOUT AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS THESE FACTS DON'T GET TO SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AND NOTHING THAT WE REPORTED WAS INCORRECT!!! IN FACT . . . THIS HOT MESS SUBSEQUENTLY REVEALED THAT MR. LAFAVER DOESN'T HAVE A VERY LONG HISTORY IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Furthermore, I just don't think he's the right style for the corridor and kinda squeaked in because there wasn't a better candidate in Jason Kander's absence.

Those of us who have ever dealt with the state government will believe him. As for your belief that he's not the right style for the corridor, I have to wonder if you think Sally Miller is?

Wasn't there a local kid running against Lafaver, who dropped out because of Lafaver's fundraising numbers? Don't know if he'd be any better, but I don't think he had unpaid tax liens in his background.

ReplyDeleteHe's a graduate of Kansas State and worked for the Red Cross in the Flint Hills before going to New Mexico. It looks like he's lived in KC since least 2009, so he should meet the residency requirements.

ReplyDeleteI tend to beleive everything bad about politicians because its usually true except when it involves the incompetent MO Department of Revenue. They routinely send out notices that are "estimated" just because they can. If for some reason you don't get the notice it becomes final and then they start doing tax liens.
