The latest word from Kansas City Transit Activist Clay Chastain takes on Mayor Sly and Downtown Streetcar supporters in a much more challenging tone.

Despite the subversive efforts of the James' gang, Democracy and light rail are not dead yet.
Mayor James and the City Council are not only employing an insider scheme to force upon Kansas City their putt putt, bar-hopping, elitist streetcar line without a City-wide vote of the people...their legal staff is also contriving to keep a competing and real mass transit system off the ballot.
All the legal filings are in, and now we await the ruling of the Appeals Court as to whether a City Government...just because it does not like an initiative from "We The People"...can block a vote on said valid initiative.
The James' gang appears more interested in building a toy train that caters to tourists, the elite, and Johnson County party goers than building a real city-wide, multimodal public transit system that could actually help the average citizen get to a job so he could feed his family.
Notice too, the 2.2 mile downtown toy train does not start East of Troost, rather from Crown Center to the Power & Light District.
Pshaw, let the peons eat cake and indure the City's pathetic diesel bus system.
If the court does order the light rail petition on the ballot, the people of Kansas City will then have to ply their way through which transit plan is better. I hope they will consider supporting the transit plan... and infrastructure improvement project... that seeks to benefit the average citizen for a change!

When you find yourself on Clay Chastain's side of self-absorbed, egomaniacal, self-agrandizing, persecution-complex having, lunacy, you should know you're wrong. KC's only real shot at starting the ball rolling on fixing its single biggest controllable weakness (lack of mass transit infrastructure) and you negative nancys and suburban buttinskys cant loose gracefully.

ReplyDeleteTo the last commit it people like you wont talk about the real issure.The real problem is the people in city hall dont care the taxpayer only the speacil interested. They let this city go to hell. the roads the potholes and the broken water pipes. What has the taxpayer get is higher property taxes. So the big shot at city hall will line their pockets.
