UMKC ACLU LAW STUDENT ALLIANCE HOLDS READ-IN CELEBRATING BANNED BOOKS WEEK

KANSAS CITY – The UMKC ACLU Law Student Alliance will hold a local read-in—continuous reading of banned/challenged books—to celebrate our freedom to read during Banned Books Week. Law students will be reading banned books at the J.C. Nichols Fountain on Friday, October 5, from 12:00pm through 12:00am.

Banned Books Week is observed every year during the last week of September to highlight the many well-known and well-loved literary works that are frequently challenged or banned in communities nationwide. Banned Books Week draws attention to the dangers of censorship and celebrates the importance of literary freedom.
