Thanks to a KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER for pointing out yet another example of Todd Akin campaigning mostly on ignorance and stereotypes when it comes to serious issues.
Check this passage from a recent AARP article:

Myth #3: Canada rations health care; that’s why hip replacements and cataract surgeries happen faster in the United States . . .
Take Republican Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri, for example. A couple of years ago he took to the House floor to tell his colleagues:
“I just hit 62, and I was just reading that in Canada [if] I got a bad hip I wouldn’t be able to get that hip replacement that [Rep. Dan Lungren] got, because I’m too old! I’m an old geezer now and it’s not worth a government bureaucrat to pay me to get my hip fixed.”
Sigh.
This has been debunked so often, it’s tiring. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, for example, concluded: “At least 63 percent of hip replacements performed in Canada last year [2008] ... were on patients age 65 or older.” And more than 1,500 of those, it turned out, were on patients over 85.
The bottom line: Canada doesn’t deny hip replacements to older people

It's a nice fact check that catches Rep. Todd Akin talking about something that he doesn't really understand. Even better, the AARP seems exasperated by correcting yet another Akin blunder.

Sure Canada will operate on your hip, it's England where they deem you unworthy and too old. But in Canada you'll wait forever for the surgery. Just recently a friend of mine lost his dad to an operable and curable cancer. Guy lived in Canada. Waited 11 months for his surgery and treatment. By then it was too late.
Ask yourself why high ranking Canadian officials come to the US, often Boston area, for heart surgery and other important procedures. Isn't their system good enough for them?
Agree 8:53 met some Canucks on a cruise and they had a little money so they would cross the border for health care rather than wait for care in the great white north. Akin's a moron but he's probably not far off on this one.

Everyone sees all the adds the "cancer treatment centers of america" put out oh yes...they offer hope, but only if you have the top notch insurance or are rich enough to cover your own expenses!!! 1) You can keep your present insurance coverage.
2) It will reduce the cost of healthcare without a reduction in healthcare.
3) Seniors benefits will not be affected.
4) Everyone will have coverage - especially the poor who need it.
5) Folk with preexisting conditions will actually be able to afford coverage.
National Health is bad. I experienced it in United Kingdom. My child would have died but for a chinese doctor in the system that knew what he was doing when the others didnt.
The healt care system ignored my childs symptoms and even ignore my explaining her pre existing conditions that had been diagnosed in America. Finally when she went lethargic and the staff did nothing for a while at the emergency room. Luckily and thank God they had a Chinese doctor on some learing program.
We took our child to the wrong hospital. A hospital not assigned to the area we were visiting. The locals told us had we taken our child to the hospital assigned my child would have died. I believed them.
Oddly the hospital the locals said would have killed my child is in a town called Fettykill.
National Health is rationed health care. Those who don't know it now will learn the hard way if Romney is not elected.
So the moral of the story from actual experience is WAIT I forgot to tell you the doc at the NHS clinic ridiculed me when he said. Is taking a tempurature somehting you American can do??

Oh 8:19 you cited a Gallup poll, that means that what you cited just has to be the truth. But 57% probably represents the average Canadian. The point I was making through simple observation is that Canadians that can afford to do so choose to cross the border for medical care. How do I know that, 'cause a fucking Canadian couple told me that. But you pulled a poll off the Internet so you must be right.
