TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! EVEN MORE CASH FOR THE KANSAS CITY DOWTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR!!!

Just a quick update about Kansas City's quickly dying Democracy . . .

The City Clerk's office is now selectively updating the sorry City Hall website and some of the more interesting ordinances aren't making into public view until they've already met with approval . . .

Low level politicking and cheap legislative tricks have insured that the overwhelming majority of voters don't really get a choice in decisions that will require their money in the long run.

And the Dowtown Toy Train Streetcar keeps chugging along . . .

TAKE A LOOK AT ANOTHER QUARTER MILLION OF KANSAS CITY "EMERGENCY" MONEY SOON TO BE DEDICATED TO THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR BEFORE VOTERS HAVE APPROVED IT!!!

120919 Appropriating $284,500.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Public Mass Transportation Fund for the Kansas City Downtown Streetcar: and recognizing an emergency.

It's really just another sign that this "vote" was rigged and really nothing more than a promotional effort from Kansas City's political class.

One "emergency" after the next, the toy train is on track to be one of the biggest disasters Kansas City has ever seen in terms of voter suppression and misplaced priorities.

Developing . . .

How much has been spent already and who got the money?
And all this is just a little warmup for the cash that's going to be draining out of the general fund for decades.
Just try to remember all the promises about the parks and community centers when the money starts showing up to operate the train.

The Money Train is a coming and it will be full of your hard earned cash.

Soon as Sly is out of office he will haul ass to WY county to avoid having to help pay for it.

Key question - what impact does this have on KCATA? The downtown streetcar isn't worth it if the result is the demise of comprehensive and effective downtown bus service! We need the mayor and johnson pledge that the ATA will be kept whole and properly funded for years to come, rather than a diversion of funds to fuel a pipe dream -e.g.when the city diverted transit tax funds to TIF and public works (street lights upgrades and salaries) projects.

More money for the train, and less for the busses. Which one will really impact the residents?? Look how far the KCATA is in the red now. This just puts them another quarter million in debt. There should not be a fund balance, it should all go to the KCATA!!! Who sponsored this, another Public Works disaster??

This totalyy irresponsible on the Silverback Gorilla's part. This mother fucker thinks we elected king not mayor!

How does this train constitute an emergency?? How about the fact that citywide ambulance response times are now down to 74%?

Thank God KC is finally getting serious about investing in transit. We have the most underfunded transit system of its size in the country. The ATA literally works miracles to operate a decent working system in the core of the pittance they receive. Meanwhile you backwards ass 1970's amateur urban planners don't blink at the $$$ shelled out for parking and unnecessary highway miles in the town...and state and nation. I'm glad someone at city hall and downtown (the voters) has a sense of what the future looks like and is planning accordingly.

I can't wait for streetcar. It is going to be great. Hurry up and start working and the expansion lines. Once the line is extended to the Plaza you will see KCMO become the convention and destinamtion City it once was and we will have Sly James and Russ Johnson to thank. As a conservative...this is the kind of progressive thinking I can support.

What KC needs is an emergency recall election, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The dumb asses of KC will vote them right back in.

Investing is when you get a return.

This damn train will never give a return. I don't care how many billions you throw at it it will always just need more and more money to operate.
