I can believe that.... there's this time period between 40 something and 62 before you can retire where if you lose you job, you're screwed.
Ya can't get hired at even CLOSE to the salary you were making. Can't get health care, no longer very employable, or attractive.
Wife lost interest in you, you're body's starting to go to SHIT, you still owe a lot and no way to dig yourself OUT!
To be honest, you're more valuable to your wife for your insurance policy than you are alive!
And here these dirtclots in Washington think you can work for another five or ten years longer. Hell, you can't make it to 62!
I made it. I'm damned glad. But it was close! Now at 65, I've got Medicare. SS isn't a lot of money but it's better than NONE.
I don't think people get it. Especially the politicians who all seem to be very wealthy, aren't finishing up their mortgages or still paying off the loans for their kids' college educations.
I shudder to think about those who didn't make enough for the good things, and are just still getting by on lower wages...and will get even LESS SS than I do when they retire! And RENT, don't even OWN a home.
And right about the time the old lady, now a bit hostile in her old age, decides she doesn't need you anymore and wants to cut you lose now that you're not mister right any longer!
I can see why a guy might decide he's had his belly full of life and it's only going to get worse.
Society's doing a real tap dance on people. They want you to do with LESS,
Republicans want you to have less health care, cut back on your Social Security to live comfortably in your old age, but then they pass laws so you can't END YOUR LIFE VOLUNTARILY.
Just like they want to PROHIBIT YOU from having an abortion and make you keep a baby YOU CAN"T AFFORD, but want to cut off your Aid to Mothers and their children.
It's like they want to make everyone MISERABLE!
You watch. If the Republicans win, there will be more abortions causing maternal death, more childhood neglect and childhood malnutrition, more homelessness for women and their kids. More kids in fewer available prisons and foster care.
In short, MORE SUFFERING under Republican policies. More deaths under these policies. More hospitals in financial trouble as they try not to turn the poor away.
The wealthy will do well, but the underclass will suffer horribly and it will affect so many of the middle class who will have to pay for those problems. Hospitals, forced to cut staffs financially, will lay off more people, causing more unemployment and more people not getting ordinary services, yes, that they can't pay big dollars to pay for!
Presidentials will never say it in a debate, but the fact is, no one on part time Walmart wages can support their families without food stamps and no health insurance.
No capitalists today buy into the Henry Ford concept to pay his people enough money so they can afford to buy one of his CARS!
