Kansas City area jobless rate falls to 6.1 percent - "The Kansas City area's unemployment rate dropped by nearly a full percentage point in September, according to a preliminary estimate published today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics."

One group of people that are NEVER counted on these lists are UNEMPLOYED SELF-EMPLOYED people. If they had a way to actually get that number, unemployment in the U.S. would probably be 15% or more, no?
Absolutely, if not 20%. I know several people in just that category.
Today you need good credit to get a job , no lapses in employment (sorry for those of you that have been unemployed for any length of time because of the economy, but its true, you wont get hired!)
If you are desperate and over 19 you will never get a job at a fast food restaurant...you are over qualified by your age alone. just sayin.
5:36..there is some truth to what you are saying.. I cant imagine how desperate one would have to be to work at MacDonalds, or walmart...speaking of walmart I dont think they discriminate against age...but hey its walmart and could you imagine working there and have your friends and family come in and see you working there? Holy shit you would want to be stationed in sporting goods so you could use your gun cabinet key to unlock the end of your misery. I love this country but currently this country sucks!!!
People who work at Walmart don't know any better. They've probably never had a good REAL job.
Define a good "REAL" job! most people in America work jobs where they are treated like walmart employees! These greedy companies that dont give their employees benefits because the bottom line is their real concern, I would love one day for every walmart employees at a scheduled time to walk off the job...all at the same time! then see what happens!
