MAYORS AGREE!!! CELEBRATE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAINS FOR EVERYBODY!!!
Examiner reports on the latest craze in local spending that's more about promoting tourism that real transit: "Several Jackson County mayors say they are working well together on several issues and that one in particular – a rail transit system – could bring the entire metro region together."

This town hasn't got traffic problems and population isn't growing. A rail system here would be a waste.
Someone might let these mayors know that the "metro" includes the Kansas side of stated line. And the folks in Kansas cities watch the scams taht are constantly pulled on taxpayers in KCMO and Jackson County and want no part of any of the big-time proposals that come from either of them.
This is just another distraction for these folks instead of spending their time on boring issues like crime and good streets and will come to absolutely nothing. It's one thing to have TV videos with well-known people holding poster of trains, but no one has made an honest estimate of how much something like this would actually cost to build, maintain, and run. And only 10% of the jobs in the metro are in downtown KCMO.
This is a great deal for the usual transportation planning and PR firms.
And a complete waste for the taxpayers.
Now let's hear all the "fixed-guideway, density, economic development" crap that invariably accompanies these porposals. Oh, and that the Feds will put in millions.
Don't places like Raytown have some more important issues?
