Remember that AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS told of of Deputy Chief Kevin Masters retiring and moving to work with Kansas City Public Schools last month.
Today, KCPD Chief Forté blogs a bit of his commendation to the retiring commander with 27 years of service to Kansas City . . .

The post was thoughtful and eloquent and seems to attempt to quell behind the scenes rumors that Chief Forté and Commander Masters didn't get along behind the scenes. Some of that talk still persists and started after competition for the top cop job.
Furthermore this gracious statement shows an acknowledgement of the contributions of longtime KCPD Veterans. Over the past few months Kansas City insiders note an increase of retirements and transfers from the Department as Chief Forté continues to make a great deal of changes in the culture of the department which have been greeted with mixed reviews from the rank and file.
Right now Deputy Chief Masters is celebrating his retirement at the Academy with friends and co-workers as he continues his service to Kansas City.

No one showed up. No sign of Forte, no Mayor, no top brass, only two police commissioners, not even Alvin Brooks could be bothered to make the trip. One council member went. 30-35 people at most. Pathetic turnout.
