SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY TUESDAY DEADLY SHOOTING BRING MURDER COUNT TO 87 - PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS LAST YEAR!!!

The latest report of deadly local violence . . .
A man was shot to death inside a car at a Kansas City apartment complex early Tuesday, police said.
It gets worse . . .
Unofficially, but checking with KCPD Crime Stats . . .
THIS DEADLY SHOOTING PRETTY MUCH PUTS US RIGHT BACK WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR WHEN IT COMES TO KANSAS CITY HOMICIDES!!!
Something to consider . . .
This could be murder #87 in Kansas City so far this year.
Last year at this time we were at 87 murders at this time.
In 2010 we had only counted 85 murders by this time in the year.
To be fair, there has been significant progress in struggle to curb the homicide rate but AT THIS POINT the numbers remain mostly unchanged.
DEVELOPING . . .

Go ahead and continue to act surprised about an urban area having a high crime rate. Thank god you don't live in Chicago, or you would have blown a fucking gasket seven months ago.
Well at least there's one sport Kansas City excels at.
Don't worry TKC. The Toy Train will fix this problem post haste.
Chicago had 25 shootings and 5 dead last weekend.
Pretty slow weekend.
Usually it is closer to 50 and 10.
Chicago has a population of 2.7 million, idiot.
We are just under 500,000.
Not much comparison.
Chuck is a self fulfilling prophecy waiting to happen.
We may have a lot of homicides but I feel real safe driving thru intersections - except those east of Broadway.
Why should it be surprising that if you do exactly the same thing that you've always done, which is pretty much ignore the problem, nothing will change?
Neglect of public safety from the mayor.
Ignoring the issue on the part of the city council.
Cluelessness and focus on "process" on the part of the police board.
Lots of announcements, showing up at photo ops, puff pieces in the Star, and the usual PR, but no serious leadership or changes at the PD.
ZERO leadership by the prominent east side leaders to engage, empower, and support residents in dumping the "don't snitch" routine and beginning to cooperate with the police.
And the introduction of yet another out-of-town program, this time the NoVa program from Cincinatti, that is somehow going to solve the crime problem without anyone changing anything they do. And it joins the long line of CompStat, hot spot, ShotSpotter, and Aim4Peace that were all supposed to do the same thing. And with all the other comments about Chicago, Aim4Peace came from the Ceasefire program in Chicago. You can judge for yourself how well that's working.
In KCMO, public safety, just like streets, water systems, code enforcement, dangerous buildings, common sense zoning, fire hydrants that work, and all the other things that people who live in cities with actual functioning municipal governments take for granted, isn't even on the list of peiorities, much less at the top where it belongs.
How are the streetcar and the new downtown hotel coming? That's where these folks spend their time and YOUR money.
How many of these murders are the blackies acting the fool?
Stop the killing. Can't you racists even agree to that?
Everything is up to date in Kansas City. Why we have a black mayor, a black chief of police, a black US Congressman, a black president, etc., etc. They fixed all of our problems too. Now give me my damn Obama phone.
What progress do you think has been made? If there is any it sure as Hell isn't significant.
The black grifters certainly share the blame but its the white crony capitalists who have really looted city hall. Add to that the most incompetent police force in the US and you have the current situation.
I wonder what bullshit excuse Chump Forte is going to use to explain the ineffectiveness of his "programs" on reducing violent crime? I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess there will be a long period of silence while he searches for a scapegoat. Shortly thereafter he will blame said scapegoat and continue pushing his bullshit "prorams", much to the detriment of the city and the department. All while riding his motorcycle and sexually harrassing his subordinates.
So KC "only" had 85 murders at this time in 2010? Man, dem wuz the good ol daze............
That texting and driving is some dangerous shit!
lol.
Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting this info. Homicide stats particularly bad in city's black neighborhoods--67 of these 87 homicides are black people. Despite years of effort and repeated innovations (AIM4Peace, foot patrols, Hot Spot, etc.) city has made little or no progress in ending the homicide surge in the city's black neighborhoods that began in the spring of 2008. Take care. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
Ernest Evans you are a fucking tool. Why in the hell is it the city's responsibility to make "progress" on this. The problem is rooted in the inner city culture of violence. Mothers with 8 kids by 8 different fathers. People who accept zero responsibility for anything. The gimme gimme gimme mentality of the ghetto. The mentality that it is everyone else's fault that I live like a complete savage.
Ernest you are the kind of idiot that thinks that the government is responsible for fixing everyone's problems. The ghetto trash gets free housing, free food, free cell phones and God knows what else for free. The only thing they have done to "earn" the free stuff is breath and breed. I suppose since they have never had to accept responsibility for earning a living to support themselves, every aspect of their lives becomes someone else's problem. Since the blacks are slaughtering each other, call on the government to fix that too.
Because all the other fixing the government has done for them has worked out so well.
Well said.
Wait until you hear Forte's reasoning for the high numbers of homicides in KC over the years. He ties the high years of homicides to racial unrest and distrust of police that happened anywhere near the spike of homicides. He thinks the high number of homicides in the early 90's were connected to Rodney King hoopla, not the blood/crip crack cocaine war that gripped the nation. He is unbelievable.
