KANSAS CITY STOPLIGHT REMOVAL PUSHBACK SUCCESS!!! RESIDENTS FIGHT BACK AGAINST BAD CITY HALL PLANNING AND DANGEROUS TRAFFIC HOT MESS!!!

Take a look at Kansas City pushing back against City Hall incompetence . . .

Fox4: KCMO Halts Plan to Replace Traffic Signals, For Now

KCTV5: City re-evaluating replacing traffic signals with 4-way stop signs

Northeast News: City government –arrogance personified

Here's what's really important . . . Other than the initial announcement I don't think public resentment of this dangerous City Hall move ever made it to the pages of Kansas City Star Dead Tree Media . . . Like it or not, local TV news, online discourse and plain old Citizen DISSATISFACTION has lead to a moment of pause for local government.

Now, we all know that they'll do what they want when nobody is looking but it's encouraging to see Kansas City residents making City Hall second guess itself, if only for a moment.

  4. Seems to me that they are going to wait two weeks longer or so before taking out the stoplights.

If this is "success" to Tony, I guess he hasn't experienced much of it before.

  5. Will everyone that whines about the traffic signals please agree to pay more taxes to pay for their maintenance? Thank you.

    Mr. Tony,
I do not like to hustle it across the street. It is undignified and scary.
I tip my bonnet to you and your tipsters.
Now if we could just get KCFD out of the MAST business. They are truly fucking it up.

  8. The real issue at hand isn't really so much the traffic lights but rather the huge population decline. If the transportation records are examined effectively, you'll see that in the areas where stop signs were installed and lights removed, there has been a population decline. What does that indicate? Well, it justifies the removal of the traffic lights but more importantly indicates that Kansas City is a virtual ghost town. Why is that important? There are more than 16,000 abandoned houses in Kansas City and the number is growing. If there has been a population decline,it's unclear how they can justify installing East Patrol anywhere near 27th & Prospect. People need to pay attention!

  9. Has the population declined or shifted? As it has done for decades?

Sure, in the areas where traffic lights have been removed, there could have been a population decline. But if that population has moved to other areas, does that make Kansas City a "ghost town"?

Because the U.S. Census shows a 4.1 percent increase in Kansas City population from 2010 to 2011. Note this is NOT the Metropolitan Statistical Area that includes the suburbs. This increase was for Kansas City alone.
