Think about the motive as presented by the federal prosecutors.

The restaurants in the new incentivized, subsidized Power and Light District had such an economic advantage in the marketplace that the owner of the established, well-known, and popular Hereford House turned to criminal enterprise (possibly organized crime) in order to try to save his business.

So TIF (and all the other development benefits and subsidies lavished on P&L) so distorts the marketplace that it causes organized crime. Amazing!

Sounds like it wasn't about how much was owned, but how much was owed and too whom. I sure hope the local media can follow this trial without jacking up the reporting.
