KANSAS CITY ENDURES ANOTHER CITY COUNCIL FAKE CRIME CRACKDOWN!!!

It seems that PR moves and publicity stunts rule the day during the era of Kansas City's Mayor Sly James.

Here's a bit of hype . . .

Kansas City's codes, ordinances getting tighter

Scott Wagner's pimping ordinance has absolutely NO TEETH according Kansas City Insiders.

And then there are a few stiffer fines for stolen property that might be a good idea but are minor improvements at best.

In the meantime . . .

KANSAS CITY'S HOMICIDE COUNT IS ONCE AGAIN AHEAD OF LAST YEAR'S PACE!!!

THERE HAVE BEEN INCREASED SHOOTINGS ON LOCAL STREETS NO MATTER WHAT REASSURING STAT POLITICOS WOULD LIKE TO CITE!!!

AND IT TURNS OUT THAT PARTY DISTRICT LEGISLATION DOESN'T STOP KANSAS CITY NIGHTLIFE HAUNTS FROM BEING RATHER SPOOKY!!!

So, while a few marketing experts on Kansas City's Council are doing their best to fake their local crime fighting skill . . . Their efforts are paltry and pathetic at best.

In fact, more than a few Missouri State Reps. in Kansas City's urban core have done a much better job in cooperating with communities in order to launch collaborative efforts aimed at curbing crime . . . Rep. John Rizzo and Rep. Brandon Ellington come to mind first and foremost.

Sadly, MAYOR SLY HAS PROVIDED VERY LITTLE LEADERSHIP IN THE EFFORT AGAINST KANSAS CITY VIOLENCE beyond feel good press conferences. The Mayor didn't even mention the homicide count in his last "State Of The City" speech and it's clear that Mayor's Sly's legislative agenda if more focused on costly development than building community coalitions against crime.

The real changes have to come from the State not the City. It's a joke most criminals will galdy take the City minor charge and laugh them off. But it makes great press,.

There is no leadership at City Hall, only more wasteful spending on needless projects. Two thirds of the fireman need to transferred to the police department.

The new activities and "programs" of the KCPD are mostly superficial and PR and there's still no real leadership on the east side to encourage, train, and support residents to play more active roles in the safety of their own nieghborhoods.
And, until the police can round up the thugs who are terrorizing the community without being afraid of being called names and having marches organized by the usual suspects, they'll continue to be marginalized by having no cooperation or information to make arrests or pursue cases.
It would be nice if some of the east side "leaders" spent as much time helping to make their community a place where investment and jobs might occur if the crime rate came down, and less time dipping their hands into every project that comes along like the East Patrol gravy train.
Not ikely, though, and the establishment at city hall and the business community is too cowardly not to go along.
So roll out the next big out-of-town program. This time it's NoVa from Cincinnati and it will have the same efffect as the others.
None.

There is something that can be done. It's called a recall movement... who shall be the first to succumb?

Dear Mr. Tony: I have to agree with SOS--until the men and women of the KCPD get assurances that if accused of racist misconduct they will get due process and fair media coverage don't expect any effect steps to stop the ongoing bloodbath in the city's black neighborhoods. And "due process" does not mean being fired by a Police Board terrified of open threats of a convention boycott. Take care. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans PS: Since Jan. 1, 2012 70 black men, mostly young, have been murdered in KCMO--this fact is ignored by the city's elite--but this elite has more than enough time to attend "Justice For Trayvon" rallies. How about a "Justice for Dead Young Black Men in KCMO" rally?
