Kansas City Bicyclist Struck This Morning

Once again, danger marks the local commute . . .

Bicyclist struck by car on Heart of America Bridge

Bicyclist hit on Heart of America Bridge

Strange that this accident comes after THOUSANDS in cycling upgrades . . . Maybe a simple rule about no bikes on the bridge might have been cheaper and less dangerous for everybody involved rather than believing the self-serving Kansas City cyclist lobby.

don't get the article, a brain dead biker,vs something larger the a smart car. I'm not brain dead, so who will win?
Kinda like calling a chiefs or royals game. Never know who till it happens.

Wow! If one person who rides a bicycle to work is out of action, that reduces the number of bike-to-work riders by half!
Bicycling on a bridge during heavy traffic in the dark.
What could posibly go wrong?
And before we hear from the other half of the riders, yes we all know that riding in the roadway is your God-given right.
It's just that some times apparetnly the Lord also taketh away!

Now if I remember correctly I was delayed for months on this bridge to put in a bike lane. I am going to place a wager that this clown was not in that lane, but thought he was an actually vehicle. I also wonder if he had insurance to cover the damage his fanny pack may have caused to the vehicle?

Adults riding bicycles should be licensed and the bike should have a tag. Everyone else who uses the road has to be licensed and tagged and carry insurance, why not bicycles?

Probably a soccer-mom (on her cel) in an SUV (with Kansas plates), thinking the bike lane was a bus lane. Meaning her own private lane.

That bridge has its own DIVIDED bicycle lane that is concrete reinforced for safety. Why would someone not use that?

I have seen several bike riders on that bridge acting like they are driving a SUV. I have been tempted to stop and yell at them to get the hell onto the bike lane. Probably should just start honking at them and yelling for them to get in the bike lane from now on. That should get their attention!

These are the same assholes who like to jog in traffic during the rush hour. Of course if you hit one of these fools, it is your ass!

The divided bike lane has to be used! Non users should be ticketed! Saw one today.

Im sorry but people shouldnt be judging people about them riding there bike to work. This person has done rode his bike for awhile to work and nothing has happened to them before. It was probably a stupid person on there phone not paying attion to what they where doing. The person on the bike has lights around them so motor vechiles could see them.My son would know because he works with the person that got hit.Think god he is not dead because the person that hit him would be charged with murder.

Hey 7:02 not judging him but their decision to not use the provide bike lane that is divided from the automobile traffic by a concrete wall. See that is what we are saying.
huge amount of taxpayers dollars that don't ride bikes were used to build this to make the ride safer. he should have used it and he would have made it to work today.
