A New East Patrol Win For Jermaine Reed?!?

Today the KCPD answered questions from the public regarding the new East Patrol station that was awarded a major contract this week.

Q&A held for KCPD East Patrol project

While the construction has been under discussion for years . . . For better or worse, Councilman Jermaine Reed as taken the lead on the project as of late.

In fact, KANSAS CITY INSIDERS, tell us that Councilman Reed made "campaign speech" in the T&I committee this week that lasted about 20 min. The funny: Watching this diatribe it was clear that his other council colleagues were squirming in their chairs and really close to jumping out of a window by the end of Mr. Reed's remarks.

Still . . . Councilman Reed has the support of the "Revs" on this project and that's important . . . What's also noteworthy is that we're seeing more instances of East Side leadership moving away from the traditional "Church/faith-based model" that has influenced politics for so long on the Eastside. New community based and more diverse groups have started to spring up and have been struggling to earn a place on the political map on Kansas City's East Side.

Finally . . . There remains a great deal of antipathy toward Councilman Jermaine Reed from other potential contenders for the office and critics of the East Patrol Project. The recall effort against the Councilman was closer to being accomplished than most media reported.

So . . . With East Patrol underway, Councilman Reed should be celebrating a major victory . . . But there are many who believe that this accomplishment WILL NOT translate into more support for Kansas City's youngest Councilman.

DEVELOPING . . .

The council members were squirming because anyone with any bit of intelligence cannot sit and listen to Jermaine talk for more than five minutes.

Byron, the biggest racist of all is on this blog, YOU. All you fucking talk about is race. LET IT GO!!!

Reed needs to step up and take the lead in making some management changes at city hall. At the highest levels.

dont vote Fletcher! That boy is one of the biggest racists when he was in Kansas City a few years back.. Remember when he tried setting up the KCPD cops a few years back?

The east side is a notoriously difficult place to win an election. I mean you have to convince all 30 voters amongst the 25,000 eligible to vote for you. That's not easy.

Look at the all qualified candidates they've elected in years past. It's a pretty rigid vetting process.

@10/28/12 10:41 AM Jermaine Reed only got about 5,000 votes out of 78,000 eligible voters. Let's do the math... that's about 2% of eligible voters. And look what apathy has done to this community. If more people would commit to voting quality candidates in office, perhaps, we would not be thinking or talking about dysfunctional red lights and a crime lab as an economic engine or catalyst.
