I didn't think it was possible to find someone less inspiring than Mitt Romney but from the depths of the Missouri GOP Todd Akin has emerged and makes Sen. Claire McCaskill seem like a reasonable choice to just about everybody but the most hardcore reactionaries.

Akin's ad sucks--he says he made a "six second mistake" but in fact, he's wrong on several topics, like school lunches for the poor, college loans, and of course he can't understand fundamental biology or crime. He decries McCaskill for voting for Obamacare, but it has already proven to be a literal lifesaver. Akin should be defeated not because he's r=Republican, but because he's so abysmally stupid.
If Claire stood for anything, she would be 20 points ahead.
But, as was said some years ago about the incompetence and lack of legal accomplishments by a nominee for the Supreme Court:

He's the only idiot she knew she had a chance to beat so her Democrat supporters faked their party affiliation on ballots and put him in the contest during the primary.

I blame Christianity. The notion that sex is dirty is what led to the notion that Mary had to have been a virgin. You can't solve real world problems when your starting from a place of deliberate delusion. They think that trying to prevent unwanted pregnancies is somehow promoting sex. They just won't accept that young people fuck.
