TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INSIDERS CLAIM LABOR AND LOCAL UNIONS LOST AMID CHANGING KANSAS CITY POLITICAL CLIMATE!!!

Let's do a Labor Day reality check . . .
KANSAS CITY LABOR AND LOCAL UNIONS ARE FACING HARSH TIMES ACCORDING TO MORE THAN A FEW KANSAS CITY INSIDERS!!!
Let's survey the damage . . .
A south KC insider reminds us . . . Not too long ago Honeywell effectively busted a local union and the settlement was scary given that these HIGHLY SKILLED WORKERS WITH TOP SECURITY CLEARANCE formerly where once thought to be immune against outsourcing threats. . . . In the end that wasn't the case and a large percentage walked across picket lines during the final days of the tense settlement. Life lesson: In the global economy NOBODY is guaranteed a job.
Even more interestingly . . .
KANSAS CITY UNIONS SEEM TO BE MOVING AWAY FROM STRAIGHT UP DEMOCRATIC PARTY SUPPORT AS MISSOURI IS NOW A RED STATE AND LONGER A BELLWETHER!!!
Example . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES KANSAS CITY DEMOCRATS ARE A TAD PEEVED THAT REPUBLICAN RYAN SILVEY HAS AFL-CIO SUPPORT!!!
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY DEMOCRATIC PARTY INSIDERS CLAIM THAT KANSAS CITY LABOR AND UNIONS HAVE LOST THEIR WAY!!!
"You're seeing Unions and their leadership fight for their survival and not really stand up for the principles they have championed over the years," The KC Insider contends. "It's really shocking to watch local unions play nice with Republicans who are now firmly in control of this state."
To wit . . .
While Kansas City Unions might talk tough about Mitt Romney and his testicular fortitude when it comes to visiting our cowtown . . . They're also playing very nice with the Missouri GOP who make Mitt look like a progressive.
One last point . . .
We all know that Kansas City's Firefighter Union basically controls local politics . .
However . . .
DOES ANYBODY BELIEVE THAT KANSAS CITY FIREFIGHTER UNION RANK AND FILE WILL SUPPORT PREZ OBAMA SIMPLY BECAUSE OF UNION TIES?!?!?
And that's the crux of some very insightful Kansas City Democratic Party suspicion of Unions and Labor as the economy continues to thwart the American working class and local politics once again see allegiances switching despite so much old school labor rhetoric.
DEVELOPING . . .

GOP unions=wave of the future.
Union folks who vote Republican are cutting their own throats.
The GOP candidates don't want minimum wage, workplace safety, injury settlements, etc.... These 3 items should not even be controversal.
The GOP wants to destroy what little safety net we have because jobs are so plentiful that even the most unemployable person can 'get a job'.
No, the current GOP wants to make sure that nobody is enriched but them. Big business is the largest recipient of government handouts in the world. TARP anyone? You think those bankers are voting democrat?
The real issue is that the two party system is a fucking joke. The Republican party of today is nothing like it used to be -- a party of common sense, you pay your share, I pay mine, and the government doesn't need to tell any of us how to live.
Nowadays it's the party of christian cultists telling america how to eat, drink and fuck.
When your two choices for election are liquid shit or firm shit, I don't see that much of a choice.
All the two party system has done is create a false black and white world where the mainstream political parties are little more than money machines to find the most extreme candidate and make rich people richer.
Union leadership has become more like their management counterparts than the laborer brethren from which they sprang. They have fallen into the trap of an inflated perception of self-importance , coopted by the power, free lunches and deferential treatment (not unlike many elected officials). They are all about protecting their own high-paying, low accountability jobs instead of those of working men and women. Put the schmucks back on scale and watch how quickly their attitudes change.
The local AFL-CIO didn't support Silvey in their May endorsements, but the state AFL chapter showed up in June and over rode the local chapter.
Ryan Silvey works hard for everyone, and the union members at Claycomo Ford plant know that. He has earned the support of the AFL-CIO. He's a good guy in the political business.
Republicans have made it clear they want smaller govt at all levels, of COURSE firemen will vote for Obama. Romney and Friends plan to gut the country and give themselves more tax breaks. The differences between parties would be more clear if Republicans at the top would be honest.
Breaking: Because of low employment rates among American workers and lack of concern from the government administration Labor Day 2012 has been canceled.Thank you.
At the end of the day the Rs and the Ds both give away oodles of cash to special interest. If the Rs got the candy, that's who you sit next to. Right now the Rs have all the candy.
yea obamas looking out for the unions..,.detroit,san fran and all fire departments are facing layoffs and zero dollar budgets, zero pay increases and less benefits increased heath care payments and reduction in overtime pay and retirment pay. thanks obama for making my job easier...voting republican this time boys and girls.
save your bullshit about gop and tax breaks cause dumbasses we are the ones that are getting them.
unless you are making over 250 and if you are you should be a good union bro and half that to make room for another guy.
signed....wolf not a sheep
Democrats give a lot of lip service to unions, and in all fairness, working class people (including the "middle class") and the economy in general do better under democratic administrations, but only marginally.
The democratic party is as "pro-business" (aka anti-worker rights) as the republicans and most union people know it. The differences for working people are marginal and know matter who is in power, unions have to force politicians to support the issues that all working people benefit from, union or not.
Happy Labor Day, thank a union man or woman for your freedom of speech, freedom of association, and workplace rights.
In the vicious vacuum that national party politics has become, the Republicans and Democrats are already dead. They choked to death on the toxic fumes of their own excreta. They are empty, hollow institutions animated only by the parasites that feed on and squirm over the residue of decomposing tissue within the dissolving membranes of their legitimacy.
Let me sum that up for you...we toast.
True dat no doubt
Any running politician is going to support whatever group licks his balls for their vote. FF's lick balls suck dick and take in the butt just so they get what they think they deserve...herpes is what you FF's actually deserve, but you already know that because many of you have it lol
To answer the question.... In a city where certain members of the media support candidates simply because of their sexual preference, hell yes the union may well support Obama.
kinda like certain members of the population vote color no matter what the issue.
Tony ... When is someone going to mention that Ryan divorced his PREGNANT wife so he could marry his PREGNANT intern?
Do family values count? Not if you're Missouri's own Newt Gingrich.
7:48 great point, this is where we are today in society, its not about what is right its about what you can get.
The decline has gotten much worse since the AFL-CIO hired Theresa Garza Ruiz.
Not even a Labor Day picnic?
go downtown you will find couple hundred dem voters with multiple kids by multiple partners. that are getting fat playing xbox and cashing in on welfare checks. dems are no better with values than repubs.
Go down to the Ozarks and you will find a couple hundred thousand republican voters with multiple kids by multiple partners that are already fat playing xbox and cashing in on welfare checks.
Most people on welfare are white.
