TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! PETITION TO PREVENT CROSSROADS SECTION 8 CIRCULATES WITH NEIGHBORHOOD SUPPORT!!!

Check the latest in the ongoing debate against Section 8 within walking distance to Kansas City's beloved Crossroads art galleries.

Remember that TKC put this controversy on blast FIRST!!!

Through AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS and with the help of Rebel Alliance we were able to provide a glimpse at blueprints of this project that will certainly be a Death Star for Downtown Neighborhood Real Estate.

However . . .

UPPER ECHELON TKC TIPSTERS HAVE INFORMED US OF A PETITION TO PUT A STOP TO THE SECTION 8 DEVELOPMENT THAT THREATENS TO CHANGE THE DYNAMIC OF THE CROSSROADS!!!

There's a lot of questions about this one ...

Don't po'folk have a right to enjoy Downtown convenience and culture as well?

Does this petition merely serve the interest of real estate speculators?

Crossroads Denizens love tagging their name onto all Downtown Real Estate but what's the motivation behind their effort to label this as a "Westside" project despite Crossroads listings on the very same block?!?! Like it or not, this project is in The Crossroads and the Section 8 impact should spill over to even some of the nicest luxury condos.

Finally . . .

An interesting cross-section of people are supporting this petition against Downtown Area Kansas City Section 8. But do they have a chance of winning against HUD cash and diversity efforts?!?!

DEVELOPING . . .

Comments

  1. Sometimes Section 8 can be a good thing.

  2. Section 8 destroys neighborhoods. Crossroads will see an increase in violence, prostitution and drug dealing. Not to mention a swift decline in property values.

  3. Better Title: Obamaville in the Crossroads.

    You'll learn someday TKC.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It will absolutely ruin the area. Watch and see.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Good for the Crossroads.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't know what all the fuss is about, most of the lofts in downtown KC already take Section 8!

    ReplyDelete
  7. If this DOESN'T serve the interests of downtown real estate speculators it will be the first decision in a very long time that won't.
How long will it take for KCMO residents to figure out whose benefit this town is actually run for?

  8. The ramifications of Section 8 housing are obvious. What you are overlooking is that Section 8 housing is subsidized by Taxpayers and Taxpayers have the right to say WHERE they want to see there money spent.

  9. Tony, Toni, Toné.

This was hung this on your door two weeks ago. Just like it was hung on everybody else's door that lives on the north end of the West Side. This is the West High development at 20th and West Pennway. When the heck did that become the Crossroads?

Also there is no section 8 housing in this development. It's mixed income. That means that there will be market rate apartments, and there will be low-income housing tax credit apartments, at a mix of about 40% market to 60% lihtc. The income limit for a household of 1 is at $28,880, which is 60% of area median income. That being said if somebody shows up with a Section 8 voucher, they cannot be turned away because that would be breaking fair housing laws.

Anyway, call the phone number, or send an email to Westside Housing Organization. Its listed on said flyer. Seriously Tony, it's called fact checking.

  10. The western boundary for the Crossroads is I-35. This project is further west than that.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The western boundary for the Crossroads is Broadway. Broadway has been the eastern boundary for the West Side for the past 40 years. We are as pleased to be a part of Kansas City’s growing arts community as we are of our historic heritage and identity, but we are not the Crossroads.

    ReplyDelete
  12. niggers fuck up EVERYTHING!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. This development is two blocks from Broadway. Don't assume that the thugs will stop and turn around. They'll just walk right into the Crossroads area and help themsevles!

If you’re in the mood for a snack, you can get your hands on a complimentary doughnut Wednesday, but you’ll have to shiver your timbers to get the free treat.

  15. How many developing story's have you pimped that never developed. That's what I want to know.

  16. See once we leave Tony's comment's dwindle down to about the volume of his readership which is about twelve people. And that might be overly optimistic.

    » Mr. Saturday Night Special
"You took my money, that's what you get!" is what a wacko shouted while he unloaded on his lawyer outside a Van Nuys, Calf. courthouse yesterday. The lawyer managed to save himself by ducking behind a tree. Television crews caught the whole thing on tape. The man was caught and thrown to the ground when it was discovered that it was not a divorce attorney he assaulted. LINK

» Oprah fans more likely to be stressed
Just as I had always suspected, people who watch the Oprah show are wound way to tight. Remedy, for the largely female audience of the show: get in the kitchen, get my dinner ready and put on those short shorts that I like. Burp. LINK

  24. No one wants section 8 in their neighborhood. Keep that shit in the downtown lofts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Section 8 is good for ELDERLY, but not for single mothers who want to earn their livings raising unwanted, babies headed for prison when they're 18.

Remove the government benefits for single moms other than when they're kids are at school at breakfast and lunch.

NO Monthly cash stipends for poor mama-hood. Take the profit out of babymaking!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Would you like a snack cake to go with your fart-sniffing?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sure gimme two!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Those last two posts made no sense, and maybe they entertained YOU, but they were boring.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Kansas City Art Institute powers are behind the Crossroads Peregrine-Leedy-et al throne of politically correct appearances.
At least we of Romney's discarded "47%" retain our souls.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I thought the Crossroads demographic was hipsters, artists, and others of a more liberal bent. To see them objecting to Section 8 is ironic and definately a case of NIMBY. The same people that want the expansion of all the social programs don't want it where they live and work....very telling.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nobody wants NIGGERS in their neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Don't care what they do with it. But that eye sore needs to be torn down NOW or school board members sent to jail

    ReplyDelete
  33. Villa Del Sol and West Bluff didn't seem to make much difference in Crossroads getting off the ground and launched. Why would this?

    ReplyDelete
  34. As always with KC, the discussion will not be public and the decision will not be based on best policy or practices. Instead, it will be all about who's getting paid. Late-comer Developers needing a boost from HUD money vs. Hipsters, the "Creative Class" , and those who bought in early. Should be a fun fight to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Actually, The Star needs to pick this story up to help us keep the crossroads and the westside safe.

Taxpayers should have a say in where section 8 should be used.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Can't have it both ways. Those whose mantra is diversity should be not be fighting against more diversity. Or I guess that diversity is only good when it does not affect you or your business.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Maybe you can now afford to move out of Rita's basement.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I wouldn't count on it. Tony can't afford the crossroads!

    Bwahahahahahaahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Look how nice it is on Armour Blvd & Troost. Who wouldn't want Sec. 8 in their neighborhood?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Neighborhood diversity is just fine until your neighbor's kids and their friends start breaking in... get loud, fight, bully, and otherwise act like little punk assholes.

Then you want them and their babymaking single moms to go the hell away! Like back to the ghetto where no one cares how people behave.

    ReplyDelete
  41. since when is the cross roads continue into the west side. the school that they are redoing for section 8 is on summit in the heart of the west side. so look out there goes your property value and crime will increase in the west side

    ReplyDelete
  42. THAT'S THE WEST SIDE NOT CROSSROADS YOU YUPPY IDIOT TONY!!!!!!!!!
