Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo is becoming more important every day.
Worse still . . . Since nobody is watching and nobody really cares . . . There seems to be more activity regarding an upcoming Convention Hotel that will inevitably be a hot mess.
STL tried the same thing and it's wrecking their budget.
Still . . . At City Hall this is yet another big ticket item that is being treated like an inevitability and not a choice.
To wit . . .
TKC TIPSTERS HAVE TOLD US THAT ONCE AGAIN MAYOR PRO TEM CINDY CIRCO IS TAKING THE LEAD ON PUSHING THE EFFORT FOR THIS MEGA HOTEL FINANCED MOSTLY BY KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS!!!
Despite Kansas City's changing economy . . . Fewer conventions in town overall and the already busted bond raiting for this town . . . The 1,000 room hotel is being sold as "the missing piece" that will push our great city over the top.
Sadly, nothing has worked so far . . .
The P&L District is a financial albatross for KC Proper.
I'm still waiting for the pro-sports team @ The Sprint Center.
A 1.5 mile Toy Train Ride is only gonna keep hipster interest for so long.
So now a big hotel bought and paid for by taxpayers is the upcoming disaster where voters won't get much of a choice.

The question is whether the taxpayers will get tired of paying for all these important people with harebrained ideas and vote in some folks who are actually interested in municipal government, or KCMO will run out of money and solve that issue all by itself.

Those commentators who are waiting for people like Circo to disappear from the politico scene really haven't been paying attention.
Even with the 460,000+ popultion of KCMO and the even greater numbers of folks in Jackson County, the same names play musical chairs and come up over and over again like a cucumber and onion salad after lunch.
There's the city council, the county legislature, the state assembly and senates, and then the vast obscure labyrinth o jobs available on the public payroll where no one had any idea of what you're doing and you canjust bide your time until the next opening occurs.
You might notice that in KCMO/JaxCo, the question for an elected offical is never "What have you accomplished". It's always "What are you going to run for next".
And the taxpayers just pay and pay.
Interest rates are at historic lows. The developers should put there big boy/girl pants on and walk into a bank. Unless they are lying about there numbers, which is quite possible.
I am all for using public money for the public good, but not for private profit.
As soon as KC builds a 1,000 room hotel the new bar will be 1,200 rooms. KC should completely get out of the convention, tourism and sports business.
