"Sources have just confirmed that Congressman Emanuel Cleaver has been asked to speak at the Democratic National Convention this week. And he has accepted. He is scheduled to speak Wednesday evening. Sources also say he will focus on an issue near and dear to his heart - civility. He believes elected officials in Washington are not effectively making strides forward because there is too much acrimony and fiery rhetoric. Instead the Congressman is urging his colleagues - on both sides of the aisle - to work together and find areas of compromise so things will get done for all constituents."
Like it or not, this is Kansas City representing on the national stage and something more connected to our town than anything the other convention offered.

If you were paying attention, you'd have noticed that Cleaver DOWNPLAYED the alleged spitting incident. It was others who made a big deal about he. He said very little, didn't want to big-deal it at all, wasn't even sure it was intended...for someone was yelling in his face at the time.
As far as civility is concerned, well it appears that a lot of you have no respect for yourselves or anyone else.
