THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR K-PAC REVEALS THAT KANSAS CITY HAS GIVEN UP ON NEIGHBORHOODS AND NOW IS FOCUSED ONLY ON TIN CUP URBANISM TO BENEFIT THE ELITE!!!
A string of overpriced Downtown condos is not a "neighborhood" in any meaningful way. Sorry.
Whatever happened to all of the promises that K-PAC would make life better for us all? Like a pro-sports team @ The Sprint Center or The P&L District cash influx . . . That was nothing but political lies and classic Kansas City hope.
Currently . . . Mayor Sly and the City Council have adopted an agenda mostly aimed at fulfilling the grocery list of Kansas City's 1% and crooked special interests.
Sure, Jordan Carver is a vision of hotness in gold but this cowtown working only for the benefit of power brokers just isn't a good look.
The Toy Train . . .
The Downtown Convention Hotel . . .
The ongoing "Tin Cup Urbanism" Philosophy at work behind Mayor Sly's spending spree . . .
The whole hot mess is breaking Kansas City's bond rating and making sure this town eventually goes the way of Detroit . . .
But we'll be getting there by way of a useless Toy Train and in high style.
And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist.

You are right, Tony! This city is dying like a dead root on a tree. It's just a matter of time before the city stops replacing burned out lights in the urban core and the police stop responding just to pick up dead bodies. It's a shame that the people here are so ignorant that they either don't see it or don't care. As long as it doesn't happen next door it's not a problem, right?
The people of this city use indifference to hide their unfounded fears. (Don't worry, I'm leaving as soon as I can.)
The mayor doesn't give a damn about this city. He knows he's a one term mayor.
The city is do divided that nothing can fix it! Once the dying root falls away and the thriving areas begin to feed off of each other them you'll see pandemonium at it's best.
Kansas City used to be a nice place to live and raise a family but now it's a metropolis of hateful and fearful bigots being fed upon by out of state investors who will finish sucking even the so called elite high and dry. They aren't smart enough to see that they are being laughed at - they don't even have any culture!
This is a shameful place and I can't wait to leave here never to mention the place as my birthplace.
I won't return again, after leaving this time!

If that building, built with private funds (using public funding only for a parking garage shared by many other facilities) "epitomizes everything wrong with Kansas City," we're in better shape than I thought.

The exciting world of KC media will return tomorrow when employees drag themselves into work and enter their cubicles to begin another unexciting week churning out "cheap content".
I suspect that the population of working adults in Kansas City will continue it's decline for the foreseeable future. There's just nothing here and nothing on the horizon. We can all make jokes about not having lights in the urban core or cops not responding, etc. but you can honestly look forward to basic city services being curtailed at some point. It's just basic math. KC is a failed LITTLE city, on the plains, with no place to go. Go luck to those of you who stay...it'll only get worse.
But 10:33 all the shiny new buildings, toys, and other produced imagery make it look like were successful!
You cannot pay off old debt with vastly greater amounts of new debt without consequences. But don't worry as long as the "stimulus" money keeps coming everything will appear to be going great!
And Sly and all the other grifters and buck dancin white ass kissin minstrel cons keep throwing our children and their futures away by not fixing our broken skool system which is the litmus test for the hole dysfunctional City structure and services.
