Yesterday afternoon Kansas City was given a quick lesson in why fewer people pay attention to the news and most don't bother voting.
THE KANSAS CITY "HELMET MAN" DOWNTOWN TERRORISM SCARE WAS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF MISGUIDED MAINSTREAM MEDIA HYPE!!!
Anybody with any experience in Downtown Kansas City realizes that these scares are ALWAYS phony and so common that they don't like to let workers leave simply because of a threat.
On the bright side . . . A few local gov. workers got an early day off because the Kansas City media scene was soooooooo slow.
Also, the fact that "Helmet Man" might be on a terrorist watch list should make people a lot less confident about the illusion of safety currently in play.
Anyhoo . . . The fact that Kansas City is to insignificant to destroy is neither comforting nor helpful for our civic agenda. So we can pretend that mainstream media kept us all informed and safe and wasn't capitalizing on local fear.
