Kansas City Unlikely: Fixing The Katz Building

There's been a lot of buzz about the possibility of a Katz Building reuse that would be kind of cool . . . Sadly, it's never gonna happen for a lot of reasons but mostly because Kansas City is more comfortable increasing taxes than giving to multi-denominational churches.

In fact, this story kinda follows a local theme in that locals with happy thoughts easily get press coverage despite the efficacy of their grand plans.

So, please don't hold your breath for the new Katz Marketplace pushed by a local church . . . Even though it's a really nice idea.

This store has a huge place in the history of that once-great old neighborhood. When I grew up, we bought everything at Katz. And I mean EVERYTHING. There was a Myna Bird downstairs that talked to everyone who went down the stairs. What a great city this was then!

So sad that developers would rather tear down buildings of wonderful history in this town and build cheap ass ugly strip malls instead.

Destroy the past is the theme around here anymore.
