ALMOST A QUARTER OF A MILLION PEOPLE IN KANSAS CITY BASICALLY CAN'T READ!!!

From KCUR: "Approximately 225,000 adults in the Kansas City area function at the lowest literacy level. On this Thursday's Central Standard, a look at how illiteracy is closely linked to poverty, unemployment and health issues, and an area class (in conjunction with Literacy KC & The Writer's Place) working to bridge that gap."

Most High School and College Grads function at the lowest literacy level anymore. They understand beer-party since that is pretty much all they'll ever make of themselves once out of school.

It's actually worse when you consider that some people can read but can't comprehend what they are reading.

Why do the voters in KCMO insist on continually electing these people?
Of course, TIF doesn't really have that many letters in it!

I'm not from here. I grew up in a Midwestern city that has a much higher emphasis on education. I do my best not to look down on the huddled masses in this town but it's hard not to do so. So many people here are incredibly ignorant. I'm not just referring to the political class either, it's across the board.

Oh, we have a high emphasis on education in the media. That's all we ever hear about.
The problem is that the people who need the education don't give a shit.

I heard the same rumor 3:18! Well I guess since the PD has spell check, that pretty much covers him.. lol

This will not get better any time soon.

The sub culture glorifies ignorance with the defacto permission of the MSM, Hollywood and the 4th estate, then, astonishingly enough, blame that lack of ambition and failure on the folks who work their asses off to succeed.

I taught in the KC School District long ago.

Focus your attention on something else.

This is a loser.

You can lead a horse to water and if it is thirsty it will drink if the water is good.

You can take a child to school and it will learn as a rule if the parents support said child and demand that their school board have good places of learning for the child.

A horse won't drink crappy water, nor will a child learn in a crappy school while living with crappy parental support.

Yet they deserve Google fiber. Fucking morons

Touches on a lot city and federal employees too. When your employer has to offer special ed classes so staff can comprehend policies that is sad.
