TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CAMPAIGN AGAINST CROSSLAND CONSTRUCTION STARTS IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Here's a BIT OF TESTIMONY SEEN FIRST ONLY ON TKC regarding an important move and ad campaign from local labor . . . And starting on Labor Day . . .RIGHT NOW THIS IS PART OF THE CAMPAIGN THAT'S GOING FAR AND WIDE ACROSS LOCAL INTERNETS
"Beginning Labor Day, these billboards will be going up around the Kansas City area, including some in surrounding communities like Nevada, Missouri, where Crossland was hired to manage a high school construction project. From 2005 thru 2009, Crossland Construction of Columbus, Kansas, (ALLEGEDLY) recorded 350 workplace injuries and two deaths. To put that in perspective, there are 260 weeks in that five year period. So Crossland averaged 1.3 injuries per week from 2005 thru 2009. In all (again, according to this testimony) Crossland has had three employees die on the job from 2002 to the present. During that same period, OSHA cited Crossland 43 times and imposed initial penalties of over $220,000.
"Please support the Carpenters Union campaign against Crossland by visiting www.TheTruthAboutCrossland.com . We need your help in spreading the word about this company. We are asking people to share this link with their friends on facebook, and urge them to call Ivan Crossland, Jr. of Crossland Construction and tell him to do the right thing by requiring that area labor standards and workplace safety standards be met on all its projects.
Why is this important to Kansas City?
"Crossland has opened an office here in Kansas City within the last year or so, and has started on a number of construction projects including the 39Rainbow development across from KU Medical Center, and has begun demolition work on a building at 15th & Baltimore for Sporting Innovations a tech firm that is a spin-off of Sporting Club that owns Sporting KC. Both of those projects received tax incentives. In 2011, claims for unpaid wages were filed with the Kansas Department of Labor by 23 workers against a local Concrete Construction firm working as subcontractor and Crossland Construction as contractor for work performed on the 39Rainbow mixed-use development project, Rainbow Blvd. and Marty Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Some of the wage claims were filed by undocumented aliens."
