The current heatwave has provided a bit of opportunity for Kansas City politicos out in local neighborhoods hustling votes.
Knocking doors and talking to residents in the heat is an effective way to build relationships with voters and garner a bit of good will. Real talk: Kansas City voters have always liked to see their elected officials sweat.

More than anybody else this election cycle, Jason Holsman and his campaign team have been out on local streets in full force pushing his run for State Senate.
In the 24th District Primary both candidates have been hitting the street.
Sarah Gillooly has been talking with neighborhooods close to downtown.
Meanwhile, Judy Morgan is focusing her efforts on the newer parts of the newly drawn District.
MO HOUSE REP. Brandon Ellington and his loyal group of friends and family have been outside in this triple digit heat raising voter awareness on the Eastside.
Meanwhile . . . The campaign of Jackson County Legislator Crystal Williams is mostly confined to Facebook and Cafe Trio.
Soooooo . . Kudos to all of the Kansas City politicos hitting the streets in the heat and blazing a trail of increased attention to neighborhoods.

I have been volunteer canvassing door to door for and with Crystal since May. Her campaign goes door to door every day. You are misinformed.

Crystal might be out there but let's be factual and just check her numbers.
She's trailing in the fundraising race according to the Missouri Ethic site.
She most likely does not have the cash on hand for a door-to-door campaign.
Whereas Jason Holsman is a teacher and has more campaign money. He not only has access to more enthusiastic volunteers but has the funds to make sure they are supported with materials.
Tony is correct in nothing that Crystal may seem outgunned in this aspect of the campaign.
Crystal's method has been to try and rally support online and that is cost effective.
So, I can see Tony's point in saying that Crystal isn't "out there" and he is mostly correct. However, it's important to understand the reasons why.
Actually Crystal is out there and yes she does not have the money Jason has for huge amount of paid door to door workers. She relies on volunteers, Jason pays. As for who has more feet on the ground, I suspect it is Jason, but the one pair he is missing is his own. Best info has him inside or out of town, letting the hired help brave the heat.
Either one will do a good job as State Senator, but I may just vote for Crystal because Jason's supporters on this board have no class. They are not helping their candidate with all the hate and crap they are puking out here.
The trash on this blog are not Jason's supporters, they are left overs from Crystal's last race. How blind can you be?
Holsman is winning every facet of this campaign, he is not going to encourage, condone or support anyone who causes him to lose votes. Think about it.
Crystal wishes it was him to give her something to run on. But we all know who it really is and he has a lot more time on his hands to blog after Crystal won.
Remember Holsman supported Crystal against Henry in the last contest, reason I suspect that JJ is not helping Holsman. What better way to pay back both Crystal and Jason than by anonymously attacking Crystal in hopes she blames Holsman. Win win for O'henry.

Honestly, I am not sure why you tend to favor Jason over Crystal. To me, they both make fine legislators. If Jason wins, the state will be in good hands just as it always has been. He is a great fighter for the enviroment and his written ideas/laws are usually progressive. Jason's downfall is that he is a people pleaser. He is a bit slow to react when it counts the most.
If Crystal gets in, KC know it has a strong leader with great vaules. Crystal always comes out swining and truly cares about the citizens in KC. She is an extremely hard worker and stays super focused on the task at hand. I think some are a bit itimidated by her as she is a woman with a mind of her own. Sometimes, Crystal doesn't always go with whats expected of her. That's threatening to some. I am proud of both of our candidates. As I said, KC is lucky to have both of them on our side!

Jason has paid staffers and volunteers. Crystal does not have paid staffers. Why? Because the voters have not contributed to her campaign like they have contributed to Jason's. This is a campaign. Jason is winning the money game, the ground game, and the endorsement game. Crystal's supporters can make all the excuses they want. Bu the bottom line is, Holsman out campaigned Williams.
Why Crystal does not have paid staffers? Easy answer her daddy's girlfriend isn't paying for everything!
Holsman has been out of town most of this campaign. Disney World, Jeff City, and St. Louis to name a few places.
