TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER OFFERS LITTLE TRANSPARENCY DURING AN "EMERGENCY" $1 MIL+ KANSAS CITY MONEY GRAB FOR THE DOWNTOWN "TOY TRAIN" STREETCAR!!!

Kansas City's streets are crumbling. This town is having trouble paying City Employees and a slew of new taxes are on the way in the name of infrastructure. Unfortunately, the answer to solving all of these problems from City Hall seems to be a TOY TRAIN that only runs about two miles.

To wit . . .

COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER'S MOVE TO GRAB MORE THAN A MILLION BUCKS FOR KANSAS CITY'S PROPOSED DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR IS MEETING WITH CRITICISM BECAUSE OF A LACK OF TRANSPARENCY!!!

Seriously, there are a lot of differing opinions about the Downtown Street car on this blog but the move to get cash THIS WEEK is meeting with a very simple question . . .

WHAT'S THE EMERGENCY COUNCILMAN GLOVER?!?!? WHY DOES THE DOWNTOWN STREETCAR NEED MORE THAN A MILLION BUCKS THIS WEEK?!?!

Remember that Kansas City lost Fed Funds so we're not really talking about meeting deadlines . . . Or at least that's nowhere in the ordinance language or fact sheet.

Since TKC TIPSTERS BROKE THIS STORY LAST NIGHT . . . We've been getting some good info on the effort . . .

One thoughtful TKC TISPTER WRITES . . .

"RE: The Emergency toy train ordinance. Are you aware that all minority and female participation is waived on emergency ordinances? And if the engineering study is an emergency, then the construction will likely be an emergency. So they may very well leave MBE and WBE companies out of the work, with no goals on the project."

Speaking to that point . . .

Here's another Kansas City Downtown Toy Train Emergency:

ORDINANCE NO. 120604

"Authorizing a Second Amendment to a contract with HDR Engineering, Inc., for the Downtown Street Car Transit System; and recognizing an emergency."

That's right . . .

COUNCIL DUDE GLOVER WANTS TO EXECUTE "EMERGENCY" CONTRACTS FOR KANSAS CITY'S PROPOSED DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREET CAR THIS WEEK . . . ALL WITHOUT REVEALING: WHAT IS THE EMERGENCY?!?!?

To say that the proposed streetcar is oversold is being very kind.

What's worse is that some very troubling deception is going on in this Kansas City Downtown Streetcar effort that is even worrying some supporters of the idea.

Thankfully, KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS want us to put this on blast in the name of TRANSPARENCY so that City Hall Streetcar moves don't go unreported.

DEVELOPING . . .

THIS is an emergency?

He is doing a great job just as Beth did in the same seat on the council.

Lack of transit is an emergency in KC and has been for 30 years.

Take the bus. It is not that busy here in KC. No need for this wasteful spending.

Idiots

Well that's one million, so just $99 million to go.
What's the plan for that?

He needs that train to better canvass the area for his kids

Councilmen need to either be guardians of our fiscal interests...or need to resign and not run again.

Citizens want good streets, good sewers, good lighting, good water services and area trash cleanup.

THATS IT!

We're not really into civic improvements for rich hotels and restaurants. And we supply MOST of the money you have to spend for is.

Don't give it to the people in suits who take you to lunch!

We need an FBI investigation of this streetcar effort. There is some serious corruption going on here.

10:07: John, you lost the election big time. Can you spell "landslide?" Get over it.

Mr. Glover,
You is too silly! $1 mil for the toy train? Tell you what, you just go over to Mr. Troy Schulte's office and get him to share the millions we just made off that ball game. Why sure, there it is sitting pretty and just waiting for you or some other enterprising young man to use it to make even more money for our town.

Who let this dude back in office? Voters are retarded just as these politicians suspected.

ahhh, now the yellow gloves make sense. He's just pulling it out of his ass.

they're just taking money out of old TIFs. try not to shit your pants about it.

Anonymous said...

The money is coming from TIF surpluses.

In other words, TIF has reimbursed the developer for their project expenses. Now that there are finally funds flowing into the public coffers from the TIF, Glover wants them directed to a engineering study instead of into something real (like deferred capital improvements or maintenance).

Seems like TIF revenues will NEVER make it back to the general fund to pay for real stuff.

I think the voters should DEMAND that anytime there is TIF money returned to the taxing jurisdiction, it must first be used to help pay for any underwater TIF projects (can you say P&L?).

I want a police station.

Anonymous said...

@12:33 If you know a Black Baptist church preacher, you too can have your very own police station. Do you prefer it to be in your backyard? That way you can feel SUPER safe! I'm sure Glover would be happy to use eminent domain to clear your neighbors out so that you can it. He did vote to support use of eminent domain and has used it frequently during his past City Council term. It took him almost 20 years to get back in politically afterward. The sad thing is he doesn't have another 20 years of life left in him. Laughing...

You think Glover's going to explain the emergency Tony? You're being way too optimistic.

The City Council must've already been bribed on this loser scheme, for why else would they be so desperate to make it happen.

Anonymous said...

This Glover cocksucker should never have gotten back into City Hall. The guys a joke/jerk....take your pick.

Anonymous said...

2:25, I pick both! Glover is a joke and a jerk.

An emergency!! I didn't see the Bat-signal. Did I miss it?

Anonymous said...

No Bat signal... those guys kicked ass!

Anonymous said...

So, what can we do as residents to fight this???

Anonymous said...

Call Glover and leave a message with his assistant.

His office number: 816-513-6515

e-mail:

erica.torres@kcmo.org

Be polite, tell him you are against this ordinance and there is no need for using emergency legislation.

Thank you anonymous @ 7:05. I wrote an email and I suggest all of you do too!

The original city finance share was $1m, now it is $1.345m and the project has not even been approved by the vote.
