TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! TKC DISCUSSION OF THE MIKE MAHONEY VS. KCPD FORTÉ SHOWDOWN REACHES 100 COMMENTS!!!
Yesterday mainstream media in Kansas City followed the lead of TKC commenters in talking up the EPIC showdown between KCPD Chief Forté and KMBC Journalist Mike Mahoney.
THIS MORNING WE WANT TO SHARE HAS SOME SCIENTIFIC MARKET RESEARCH DATA REGARDING THE TKC DISCUSSION THAT HAS NOW REACHED MORE THAN 100 COMMENTS!!!
This is far from the first triple digit debate we've had here on TKC but the 100 comment debate regarding a showdown between a journalist and Chief of Police is one of the more lively discussions we've had that point out a few interesting trends.
Check it:
* Clearly there is some palpable divisiveness within the KCPD that has manifested in the comments regarding The Chief's leadership and media relations. This confirms more TKC TIPSTERS regarding a morale problem among Kansas City's public employees.
* However, it's important to note that The Chief is not without ardent supporters as well who note that constant struggle between media and public officials is part of public life.
* Most seem to think that LEGENDARY KANSAS CITY JOURNALIST MICHEAL MAHONEY did a commendable job in posing tough questions to KCPD Chief Darryl Forté.
Meanwhile, Kansas City residents and media watchers are still waiting to learn more about the "No Violence Alliance" and what distinguishes this program from so many other efforts to curb local homicides that have so for proven unsuccessful.

He should have stopped and took the opportunity to get the media on board. Once again I am embarrassed of my police department, and I can't wait to go to work tomorrow knowing that I still don't have a leader with a backbone. You finally seem to have Jackson County prosecutors on board, and then turn a cold shoulder to the press? WTF is that? I'm not going to go on a tirade and slander you, or call you names, but come on, really? We need all the help we can get, and you, the leader of this department, just made us all look like assholes. We have enough people at my level who do a good enough job of that. You are supposed to be the face of the department, not the ass of it.
Only HALF of any success effort at curbing the violence involves the police. The other half requires a pro-active cooperating neighborhood which understand both why and HOW to look out for their own safety.
The folks at Stop the Killing have the right idea and are working to build more cohesive neighborhoods and realtionships with the PD. The elected and appointed folks who are seriously interested in reducing the violence should be supporting them and working to spread the same message throughout the city.
The No Violence Alliance is another dog and pony show.

I have despised the media for a long time, however I saw nothing wrong with Mahoney's approach to Forte. Forte is like Obama without a teleprompter. He cannot handle speaking about something he doesn't have a prepared answer for. Epecially about something he really doesn't know about. If anyone lower than him reacted to the media that way, then tweeted what he did, they would have been disciplined. The common theme under Forte is he gives vague orders with no instruction on what exactly he wants or what the officers are supposed to do. This is the main reason for all of the frustraion with him. There is no leadership. Nobody knows what it is they are supposed to be doing.

The man they need as chief is a guy named Orlando Felix who used to be a KCPD officer, is from KC and is now running a field office for ATF. That dude is one well rounded professional who still has some human blood in his veins. ..the whole package without all the bullshit.

You are no the law but a servant of the law, and an employee of the people. So get off you high horse and remember who you work for.
Now as far as the effort no matter what the police do, until the court system start handing down a punishment that fits the crime, and out jails and prison are ran more like a place your sent to pay for your wrong doing. Then nothing will change. Every jail and prison should be self-sufficient and the prisoner should have to work to cover all the cost of their own choice that put them in our jails & prisons
I'm still reeling from the Twitter posting. Really?!?!?! He had to have known a shitstorm was brewing after snubbing MM, but to then post some juvenile Tweet to make it worse? It no longer surprises me when I see how much the community (and not just the inner-city folk) don't like KCPD.
As a 10 year dept member, all i heard leading up to Forte's appointment was how awesome he was. Still waiting for that to come out. Get your shit straight, chief and start fuckin' leading us.
KCPD has been going down hill for years. Look at all the failed projects. For example, E-Ticketing.
The E-Ticketing project is a complete embarrassment to the department. Not to mention a complete waste of time and money,

The morale at KCPD is at a record all time low. After 18 years, I have never seen it this bad.

As just a regular tax-paying citizen with no connections to either KCPD or the media (or the city for that matter) - I was shocked by Forte's behavior and arrogance. The media serves an important purpose in our democracy - and I felt personally dissed when Forte dismissed Mahoney and then called him rude on Twitter. Obviously Forte does not "get it" but when he did that - he was also saying that he feels that way about all of us. It's disgusting and I think he should resign.
Well the morale of the whole country is at an all time low. Like everyone else putting up with republican shit to screw us all over, they need to get over it, ignore the kazillions in right wing commercials, and vote the bastards out.
Fact is, Americans are TIRED of wars on drugs, heavy handed law enforcement, long sentences putting as many people away as possible, and high fines.

He got called on and he didn't have a clue what to say as he has no answers. How else to explain the attempt to flee and his anger towards a reporter asking a simple question? This joke of a Police Chief will prove himself to be a total and complete failure. Just like NoBama, Sly and a whole list of NIGGERS that don't belong in office, much less out of a cage.
Like the rest of KCMO government, the folks who run the police department are completely seperated and clueless about, not only the public, but even the people who work for them.
They're so used to talking amongst themselves that the last thing anyone like Forte' wants is to have to talk with someone who isn't already carrying water on the same old party line.
That's why, if you listen to the speeches or read the press releases, and then spend any time at all with officers in the field, you quickly find that there's just about zero correlation between th ePR and reality.
And it's the reality that keeps getting people killed.
There'll never be any progress until the elected and appointed folks stop hiding behind delusion, defensiveness, and denial, stop hiding from the usuual suspects on the east side who do nothing to promote cooperation or to curb the violence, and get serious about holding programs and individuals accountable for performance and results.
Maybe the mayor should make spending time in the field part of his weight-reduction program.

Forte isshowing he is not the man for the job. Simple question and confusing response. I wonder why? There is more to this story. Could be he didn't know the answer. Maybe he lacks substance and others are actually running the show. Maybe it is just a political stunt by the Prosecutor and he is angry about it? Lots of possibilities.
Forte is the result of another Affirmative Action hire that evolved into this ineffective NIGGER chief. Totally incompetent to be management, just barely able to hold any job. Fucking pig.
Forte is nothing more than a cut and paste manager. He finds something on the internets that worked in some other city and does a cut and paste and calls it his new plan. The only problem is that Forte is too stupid to actually get the details of someone else's idea so he can never answer even the most rudimenary questions about "his" new plan. It is what he has done from day one. So far Mahoney is the only one to ask for details. Everyone else, particularly the police board the mayor and Yael Hockaloogie just give him a pass or start pontificating just to prop Forte up. What a joke.
