TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS CLAIM DOWNTOWN STREETCAR SUPPORTERS ARE PREPARED TO MOVE FORWARD WITHOUT FED MONEY!!!

We're getting down the wire and the crowd pushing the Downtown Streetcar taxing district seems to be getting desperate.

To wit . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT THERE'S A PLAN DEVELOPING TO PUSH THROUGH THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN EVEN WITHOUT THE HELP OF OBAMACASH!!!

Apparently, Mayor Sly's supporters think he's soooooooooo popular that his smile and charisma will carry the tax given that the vote is hopelessly rigged and Kansas City election apathy seems to be at an all time high.

Remember that last night TKC TIPSTERS alleged Downtown Streetcar supporters were offering notary services to yes voters in this fabrication of an election.

Really . . . This plan to push through the streetcar/toy train with or without the help of fed money isn't so surprising given the tone def nature of our politicos.

Still . . . Fed dollars are still on the table and streetcar supporters are expecting good news but planning to make this toy train a reality using all kinds of methods that discourage and hurt Kansas City's Democracy.

It's going to happen whether you like it or not Tony.

Good...no Fed funds would make us in the opposition feel better about it. If the local, neighborhood people want it let them pay for it. If property owners let Sly cram it up their ass with his voting scam so be it.

Cordish will sue. Forget about it.

There have been several attempts to communicate FACTS with Tony but he REFUSES the meetings. Tony is not interested in FACTS because that doesn't suit his AGENDA which is to TEAR DOWN KANSAS CITY.

Tony is a chicken shit. That is a FACT.

PERIOD.

The Coal Hauler Cometh. This train will carry more black people than the Underground Railroad. Can't wait until the first gang graffiti tagged cars are on the tracks and getting stripped of all copper.

So given how many businesses close, come and go, what will become of the pledges for taxation agreed to by companies that don't last? Will the others get stuck or will they come to the taxpayers for support?

river market to crown center. it's not going to carry more black people, it'll carry barely anybody.

The plan is already falling apart T.

It's going to another embarrassment for Sly and that'll make the Downtown hotel that much easier to get.

There is NO way that the property owners in that relatively small area are going to be able to fund and operate the streetcar. And the fact that the Feds are unlikely to come up with any money is a very clear sign of how unviable this idea is.
At the end of the day, whatever money is spent on this fiasco will come out of the general fund, which has already been terribly depleted by TIFs and other giveaways to the usual insiders. And if somehow it was built, if KCMO actually maintained it, it would be the FIRST TIME anything has been professionally taken care of.
With all the serious issues the city has, it's hard to believe that this is taking so much time, effort, energy, and potentially, money.

Sly's plan is toast. Heard it. Hate it.

yeah why should a city try to pay for something itself? this thing should depend on federal tax dollars to show that kc can't do anything by itself.

this thing is happening, i'll be voting yes.

KC will be flat broke by the time Sly is finished.

The money is coming from the General Fund, don't be fooled by anyone saying otherwise!! This is a scam being perpetrated by dumb politicians and engineering firms!!!

"KC will be flat broke by the time Sly is finished."

Uh I think you meant Kansas City residents will be flat broke by the time Sly is finished.

Like the Funk, this charlatan will be run out of town on a rail. Funk was pretty cheap and was thrown out only because he and his family were weird.

But THIS ONE. He'll be thrown out for his grandiose ideas to please the wealthy. And uh, his family is weird too!

Aren't there any GOOD LEADERS IN KC willing to do gumment service?

Funk wins.

KC is broke because the tax base has been eroded by TIFs, destruction of urban infrastructure, over-abundance of highways and parking lots and depopulation.

Fixed rail transit is the #1 priority for growth, reinvestment, and rebuilding in the urban core, good transit downtown is an excellent first step. Downtown to the Plaza should be the immediate next step.

Shut up Russ.

Sly has to be the biggest tax and spend politician ever. We already have empty MAX buses running every few minutes between River Market and Crown Center. So the streetcar can't steal riders from the MAX because there aren't any. Lets see him put some effort in to cutting costs at City Hall.
