TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY SHOWDOWN OVER IMPENDING CITY HALL HOUSING CONDEMNATION FOR PROPOSED KCPD EAST PATROL SITE!!!

This week the showdown over the proposed East Patrol site is back on center-stage.
To wit . . .
ONCE AGAIN KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS AND PLANNING A RALLY TO IN ORDER TO STOP THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM CONDEMNING THEIR HOMES IN ORDER TO BUILD THE NEW KCPD EAST PATROL SITE!!!
A recent blast from our friends @ BlightMeKC.com
"We need everyone at the condemnation proceedings on Thursday. Please call City Council reps and let them know you don't agree with condemnation for any reason . . ."
A look at the ordinance: #120509
Check out the interesting new "Blight Me" logo with info about the rally . . .
Two weeks ago Council Dude Jermaine Reed hoped that meetings in his office would provide a solution. Obviously, that didn't happen.
Whether you're concerned about EMINENT DOMAIN or hoping that the new KCPD efforts on the Eastside start out with the right spirit of community cooperation . . . This is a big deal that offers a look at how Kansas City local government respects the rights of property owners and residents of one of our most beleaguered districts.
DEVELOPING . . .
Sly has said he's for the proposed site.
ReplyDeleteI'm half way surprised those neighbors want to stay in that neighborhood. I would have taken the money and ran.
ReplyDelete@ 2:21 -- duh, he is on the police board of commissioners.
ReplyDeleteJust another KCPD screw up!
ReplyDeleteIt's the city moron. Not the kcpd
Deletecity will take their houses like always.
ReplyDeleteKCPD had plenty of other (more suitable and empty) locations to put the new east patrol...the city is the driving force behind kicking people out of their homes to build it there.
ReplyDeleteI am no expert on this, but Jesus, there is so much abandoned, fucked up, burnt out, property available in the inner city, why does anyone have to move?
ReplyDeleteHow bout the KC School District unloads some of shit hole buildings they need torn down and you could put the station there?
ReplyDeleteHey! how about that empty school on the exit at 39th st on 71 Hwy?
Jesus that fuckin building looks like a Hollywood set for Thunderdome III.
Plus, its RIGHT ON THE High Way.
See, I have only thought about this for about 1.5 minutes.
71 Hwy and 39th is just as bad (location wise) as 27/prospect. 1st off that intersection isn't even in East zone... 71 Hwy is too far west. 2nd that's too far south...East zone stops just south of Emanuel cleaver II (which is about 10 blocks south) but extends past front street to the Missouri river (probably 50 blocks or more north).
DeleteNot to put down your idea though...they should be looking at more locations like that...just not that one.
DeleteLike that abandon apartments they tore down next to the VA hospital ...now a 3-3.5 acre empty lot.
DeleteIf I run for mayor in black face will I get elected, or just piss people off?
ReplyDeletelolz.
ReplyDeleteThey already bought over a hundred properties, they aren't going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe person who cooked the deal for the new location was Rev. Miles and it's not hard to see why.
ReplyDeleteJust follow the money.
East side residents are sold out by the "community leaders" once again.
Oh, yeah, @7:18PM. Drove by the church Sunday and there were two, new church vans in front. Nice ones! That church can't afford anything like that by themselves. There's like 10 people (total) that attend church there and they all sing in the choir!
ReplyDeleteJermaine could fuck up a wet dream. No use looking to him for any solutions.
ReplyDeleteThe Kansas Shitty Police Department kicking people out of their homes.
ReplyDeletePretty sure this isn't up to the police. The city is making this move.
Delete9:56,
ReplyDeleteCorrection: The city council chooses the site--as they have done for every patrol station. It all comes down to who knows the particular council members or representatives of that district and will stand to benefit from a particular site being chosen. In this case, Rev. Miles knew the right people. It happens everytime, its just they've never had to go through such hoops to get it done before. They didn't bank on so many people actually not wanting to leave that crime-ridden area for whatever reason.
KCPD could speak up and say NO, but their silence speaks volumes. They condone it. Kicking poor people out of their homes.
ReplyDeleteKC police kicking poor people out of their homes. Never trust a cop.
ReplyDeleteNo snitch. Rules.
ReplyDeleteFuckin cops put poor peoples on the streets. Fuck KC cops.
And don't forget that Reed's puppet master, Al Brooks, is on the police board, and Rev. Miles is inside the game as the KCPD chaplain.
ReplyDeleteGood positioning to look out for yourselves and the board's so clueless that they thank these two for their help with the East Patrol station!
Pretty easy pickings.
It's KCPD asshole not the city.
ReplyDeleteIT'S A "BLACK THING"!!! Come on you morons, put 2 and 2 together! The KCPD Chief, Mayor, The Preacher, Big Al, and Councilman Reed, and a few others!! There's a lot of under the table bargaining going on!!!!!!!!
