Nevertheless, in this divisive election year it's doubtful that anybody cares about bailing out politicos in ethics flaps and Star columnist Steve Kraske notes as much.

He's NOT trying to clean up the Ethics Committee. He's using the tired old notion that any allegation agaisnt a black person is racism.
Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters were caught with multiple violations that have been pointed out by members of BOTH parties.
Maybe he can come back to KCMO and tell us why it's also OK for a couple thugs to senselessly gun down someone jogging in his own neighborhood.
As long as this is what passes for black leadership, don't look for much of a change in behavior.
Kraske is an idiot for even trying to spin this for Cleaver. The Star can't figure out why people don't value their product.
The fact that Cleaver is sitting on Kraske and The Star over the failed car wash shows just how scared he his over the upcoming election.

Cleaver will carry KC proper 70/30, Raytown, Grandview, and Independence 55/45 and lose his parts of LS and BS by a 40/60 margin. I doubt he can break 40 percent in Saline or Layfette, but he will in Ray. Expect very high turnout in KC's black wards to push him to a 55/45 to 53/47 winning margin.

In the last mayoral election, the TOTAL number of votes in the Third District was just 5000. Fewer residents live in the black wards and even fewer vote every day.
If Cleaver is counting on the good old $100 bills in paper bags get-out-the-vote program, he's going to be as disappointed as Jim Rowland was the last time around.
The Star loves Cleaver, always has, and has always under-reported his many ethical lapses including taking his family to Disney World on the City credit card, failing to pay taxes on his car wash, and now refusing to pay the loan back on his car wash and no doubt costing taxpayers because he for an SBA loan. He makes a Congressman's overpaid salary, and his wife has a do-nothing token job that pays well.
