BILLBOARD BLIGHT BATTLE PART DEUX!!!

Big companies never obeyed the Kansas City billboard ordinance and now it looks like City Council is anxious to eliminate a bit of local legislative subterfuge.

KCUR: Heavy Opposition To Kansas City Billboard Law Changes

Really, this is a clear sign neither the Mayor nor the City Council feel accountable to Kansas City neighborhoods nowadays. Perspective: Even the Council ruled by Mayor Funky passed some Billboard blight reform. Now Mayor Sly and crew continue to roll back any bit of legislation that protects residents who don't belong to special interests.

Tony, as a matter of fact the billboard companies did obey the billboard ordinance. The south land crazies are all up in arms over nothing. The billboard in question is an Interstate highway sign. That does not compare to the smaller boards along Wornall, which I admit are ugly. But why do the Winterowds and their ilk get to dictate to everyone? They are a handful of people.

Ed Ford is right on this one. Save the city some cash and amend the ordinance.
