BENNETT SCHNEIDER GOING BUST!!!

Keep waiting for the end of The Great Recession . . . Here's some sad retail news from Kansas City's last remain middle-class enclaves on this side of the river . . .

"After more than 83 years in the stationery, invitation and book business, Bennett Schneider is closing its doors May 31, 2012.

"We have enjoyed being a part of the history of this shop and are grateful for all the friends we have made along the way.

"It is our intention to complete and deliver all orders that are taken. So, now is the time to stock up on stationery, invitations, etc. Even if you order on May 31st - we will make sure you receive your order and we will even deliver!

"That being said - all in stock items, including furniture, shelving, etc. will be on sale beginning May 7th!"

They haven't updated their blog or twitter to reflect the news but fans of the Crestwood Institution should be grief-stricken given that their website claims "For eighty years, Bennett Schneider has been Kansas City’s home for stationery and invitations."
