TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! QUITE A FEW 39TH STREET MERCHANTS HATE NEW ROCK HOUSE NEIGHBORS!!!

One of Kansas City's most successful biz districts is in the midst of a ruckus as of late . . .

TALK TO ANY 39TH STREET DENIZEN AND YOU'RE LIKELY TO HEAR A LITANY OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEIR NEW ROCK HOUSE NEIGHBORS!!!

I'll clean up the language from our friends on 39th Street but the complaints are usually comprised of the following talking points:

- New clientele is kinda skeevy . . . Hippie and stoner kids don't exactly make great customers.

- NOISE COMPLAINTS!!! Saturday concerts and impromptu jam sessions at all hours of the day haven't endeared the place to neighbors.

- No outreach - From what I'm hearing, neighbors and nearby biz are just kinda shocked that they didn't get much warning about the loud and incredibly active new neighbors.

We'll see if this hot mess handles itself . . . And NOBODY is counting on City Hall to straighten things out.

DEVELOPING . . .

  2. Yeah, Tony you're missing the Who in the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of this story.

I understand someone is upsetting people on 39th street but I don't know who they are. I'm a regular reader but maybe I missed it and this is a recurring topic. Otherwise, cut us a clue man.

  7. Hipsters? 39th is the best place to eat at great local joints!
The new place is loud loud loud. and the music sucks sucks sucks. The other business and residents are hell. Yes 39th is kind of hip, but it is also a quiet area with students and families. It is a coffee shop with music. Overpriced coffee, they claim because it is Kona coffee... heads up, you can buy it ANYWHERE. Other shops are losing business due to obnoxious hippyboogans.

  9. Hey you dumbasses...this is what makes Austin Texas a greatplace to live, we are just too uptight to appriciate live music at a local KC level... and these are not really hipsters....more like anti-hipsters....

  10. Sounds to me like the Volker Neighborhood Association of Gangster aren't getting their cut. I don't think there's a bigger bunch of corrupt assholes in the city. Wonder when the city is going to start looking into the complaints that have been made against them?

  11. Comparing Austin to Kansas City? Sounds like YOU are the dumbass. Thing about Austin (yeah I used to live there) the music is usually GOOD. There has been plenty of live music on 39th, and no one ever complained so much, until now.

  12. 39th Street's close proximity of shops, eats and residence has lasted because the calm has been kept. Westport was like that in its golden era.

When a business is allowed to bring live music outside on a regular basis - especially at night - it will shatter the harmony between merchants and residence.
