TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! TIPSTERS PROVIDE INFO ABOUT THE KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT RUNNING OUT OF MONEY AMID IMPENDING JOB CUTS!!!

Check some numbers that come to us courtesy of KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS . . .

What's important . . .

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THESE CUTS TO THE KCFD AMID A TON OF CASH KANSAS CITY IS GOING TO THROW AWAY ON A POINTLESS DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN AND THE VAGUE PROMISE OF ALL-STAR GAME REVENUE!!!

Take a look . . . Some of this data obviously comes from insiders. The following is all quoted directly from an AWESOME TKC TIPSTER:

KCFD budget will run out by December.

459,207 of the 547,207 for training has been cut. KCFD will not be able to give ceu for Emt and medics with the 88,000 allotted

KCFD will not be able to recertify emts and paramedics next year without proper ceu(continued education) and training

KCFD clothing budget has been cut by half to 40,995. We will run out of shirts and pants before the year

The equipments budget which funds ff materials, hose, protective clothing, ff equipment, minor equipment, and computer equipment has been cut from 1,680,300 to 655,300

The budget allows no money for fleet replacement and only allots additional 18000 to fleet maintenance. With the aging fleet pumpers at 7 years old across the board, repair costs are going to skyrocket

This budget allows for no facility improvements, no construction to any stations will take place. We will not be able to add female restrooms to key stations that cannot accommodate female employees (by the way this was a mandatory legal decision that kc must do)

The new northland station that was PROMISED by the fire sales tax will not be built within this budget

All money allocated to the cpat, peer fitness, and annual physicals are gone. These tests help lower insurance premiums

The budget allocates no funds to purchasing smoke detectors for the disenfranchised. The push for free smoke detectors has helped in the reduction of life loss due to fire in KC.

2011 there was 1,135 fires compared to 1,444 in 2005 down 22 percent

Total calls in 2011 55,883 compared to 44,315 in 2005 up significantly

The public has been fooled by the quarter cent sales tax which citizens overwhelmingly supported. This money has been mismanaged and used on other resources instead of fire."

  1. No wonder that pumper was parked outside the pawn shop on 63rd Street.
    Wow, this looks serious!

  2. what do you expect from the city and fire.

    ReplyDelete
  3. What a crock of shit. These heroes are above scaring the public into thinking they are all going to burn to death if they don't give the KCFD everything they ask for. Nothing better than gang members threatening the neighborhood. They should try cutting just a bit of the fluff and huge pay and deals for their leaders. How about also cutting their big lobbying contract?

    ReplyDelete
  4. More reasons to eliminate 105 positions.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hate to say it but the Fire Department is going to have to tighten the belts like everyone else.

Us taxpayers didn't get the FD into this jam. Downtown-city hall did.

KCFD should be pissed at city hall not the people they serve who PAY up the ass for these services.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The public was dooped in the quarter cent sales tax and the fire department hosed. City hall has mismanaged this money and the fire department is taking the beating. A toy train and all star funds in this fiasco of cutting police and fire is outrageous and nothing short of Detroit politics. The truth is slowly coming out on the public safety tax and the truth about the KCFD budget at hand

  7. You dumb asses voted for Sly and the family idiots. Now you have to suffer if you or your family has an emergency. Well, at least you can watch a train go in a circle and go watch a soccer team practice at a facility that cost millions and they don't even play games in this state. Wow, you people are morons for voting for these no money managing idiots. I heard the fire department supported James when he campaigned and now he is sticking a knife deep in their backs. Sorry, you get who you voted for. Look what our country is going thru with the idiot leader we have.

  8. They have a budget of 129 million. They need to learn to live within their budget. Just like the rest of the world.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Their budget cuts are less than 2% of their budget. Other departments are dealing with double digit cuts. Why were they not thinking of retrofitting restrooms when they were installing state-of-the-art stainless steel kitchens? Why don't they cut the Playboy channel and maybe some movie channels from their cable bills? The problem is KCFD's screwed up priorities and their inability to handle the word 'no'.

The KCFD COULD make cuts to safely work with their budget cuts. They DON'T WANT TO! They're afraid if their stranglehold on the City slips even a tiny but, we'll wiggle out from under their heavy thumb.

Enough crying, whining and threatening from these thugs and babies. It's time their department participate in budget cuts. There is fat in the KCPD's budget, not just in Smokey's head. It needs to be cut now.

    1. You are a complete and total idiot. Please...if you don't know the real facts please...just keep your opinion to yourself.

    2. ffs pay their own cable bill, idiot. they pay for their own food, and they prob make less than you. i hope you're not in need of a real emergency response in the future, because it looks like they may not be able to respond quickly or effectively after these cuts!

  10. The Fire Department has become a protection racket!! Citizens stand up for your rights, don't cower in fear of these thugs!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. There is no way to make cuts without putting the lives of firemen and women on the line. Kcfd has some of the best public service customer satifaction rates out of all departments. Layoffs will do nothing but harm the public and make response times worse. The city manager has mismanaged the Fire departments money and used it on other departments, and the public has been lied to about where the quarter cent sales tax really has been going

    ReplyDelete
  12. These layoff will come from the bottom up. Layoffs will be of the employees who make the least. The majority of that 105 is crosstrained meaning they ride as emt on ambulances and can be detailed to an ambulance when ems is understaffed. If you think ems response times are bad now just wait. These layoffs harm the ems side more than fire, and as you can see ems calls have risen significantly. Laying off 105 does nothing but put taxpayers lives worse

  13. Firefighters took pay cuts for the last 3 years in a row to keep open stations and companies that the city wanted to close. Firefighters gave up overtime, vacation, Kelly days, and pay raises for 3 years to save the city and the taxpayers money.

FD has one of the highest rates of saving heart-attack victims in the nation, because of CPR performed by firefighters on fire trucks.

EMTs and Medics are working their asses off in a system they didn't design and have very little say in.

Doesn't sound too thuggish to me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. KCFD still fights more fires and does so more aggressively than most departments its size and almost all smaller departments in the metro and the nation.

There are literally only a handful of cities left where FF's aggressively attack fire from inside the structure, and KC is one of them. Most places deem it to dangerous TO FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL to enter building KC enters regularly. KCFD is more concerned with citizens and residents lives and even property than their own safety/health and it shows.

  15. I like the toy train.

But firefighters as a group, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  16. to the ff
    always remember
    Pigs get fat
    Hogs get slaughtered!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Taypayers have been taking paycuts for years. KC has lowest average household income in metro. We can't afford a gold plated Fire Department.

    ReplyDelete
  18. if they quit going to price shoppers and hy vee and driving those fire trucks that might save the fire dept in gas savings. and good luck sly with trying to get another tax increase passed in kc. for fire dept

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey, to all you geniuses! Firefighters pay taxes just like you do. They also pay for their own food, cable bills, telephones and the list goes on. So listening to your buddy that couldn't make it on the fire department isn't doing you no good. Keep believing the falsifications and keep expecting great service from the firemen, because they will still be professional no matter if you like them or not. The xbox and grocery store comments are so yesterday. Come up with new stuff. You are the same person with 10 yr. Old comments. Enjoy you practice soccer field and toy train. Hope your life is worth it. The P&L will give you medical attention. There's a lot of your wasted tax dollars there.

  20. Did you see the salaries recently in the Star by editor Yael A.?

Salaries over $80,000 a year for fire and police.

It's not the salaries, it's the bloat.

This is pure politics and the Star is leading the band, the Star's motto is spend, spend, spend, while making the public think they are being accountable.

WHERE IS THE MISSING $500 MILLION THAT WE OVER SPEND, BASED ON OTHER CITIES OUR SAME SIZE?

  21. What's a Kelly day? Sounds fun.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I looked it up. Its a vacation day! Nice, vacation days and Kelly days.

At least you all got big fat raises and Smokey bought himself a nice car. Thats more than I've seen in the last few years. When I shop at Price Chopper I'm on my own time. I've learned to live within my means. And by the way, my taxes pay your salaries technically making me your boss. So put on your pull ups and start acting like big boys instead of a bunch of whiny little babies. I don't like my job either but just like yours it needs to be done.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 10:10, it sounds as if other cities have stopped endangering their firemen then KC firemen are just trying to show how invincible and what heroes they are. Too much testosterone. Your chief is putting your lives in more danger than necessary and should be fired for his old fashioned ways and misuse of taxpayers money.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I pay taxes too.....sooooooo based on your retarded theory.....I'M MY OWN BOSS TOO!!!!!! AND I DESERVE TO GIVE MYSELF A RAISE!!!! Peoples stupidity never ceases to amaze me...we like to call that "job security".

  26. and you still had time to troll over here and pat yourself on the back...way to go tear some shit up hero...

    ReplyDelete
  27. and yet they were so bad that the news didnt even say a thing...im gonna sleep good tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  28. KCFD loves to sound the alarms to pat themselves on the back. What were the fires? Bags of burning turds on the porches of councilmembers who won't kowtow to KCFD? KCFD is bloated and top heavy. There are at least 2 dozen highly-paid guys who could retire but why should they? Making nearly six figures while playing X-Box, barbecuing, shopping at HyVee and surfing porn. Why quit and give all that up?

    ReplyDelete
  29. You know why the fires weren't on the news?because they were out before the news got there .I guess the Fd should just let everything burn up like Shawnee because they don't go inside, and they burn down whole apartment complexes. I guess that's probably a better story for the news.the point I'm trying to make is if you don't want your burning house to be on the news you probably want a AGGRESSIVE Fd. If being a firefighter is such a great paying easy job why aren't you one?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I cant believe the citizens of this city are demonizing the firefighters and paramedics. Last time the city tried to cut firefighter jobs they gave up their own benefits in order to prevent layoffs. this is what was said on channel 2. We need these services. Everyone talks so badly about them until someone they love is in need.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I chose to go to med school.
Pay is better and so are the working conditions.
See i will never be laid off, I have been out of school ten years and could retire already.
Ive never really been impressed by the fireman i have met. I think most of you are full of yourself.
But hey just my opinion. I have moved out of KC.
I do see your ambulance crews when you bring me patients.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ill take my chance...but thanks

    ReplyDelete
  33. I bet you would. I wouldn't come to your job at your telemarketing agency where you are just number for the corporation and very expendable, and tell you how to do your job. Firefighters and police don't do the job for money obviously. They do it to make a difference. But I wouldn't expect a weasel like your self to get that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Everyone believes there opinion matters. Most of you think your entilted to one because we pay taxes, not the case. To make an educated opinion, one has to have knowledge of the subject at hand. Does anyone of you know anything about Fireground operations? anything about the workings of a pension fund the depth of FD or PD? How about removing someone from a mangled car? Do any of you have the balls to say your so called opinion in a public forum like a budget meeting, townhall meeting? Dont just be a keyboard BULLY, Come out and see us. You all suck! I cant believe im reading this crap.
