TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! MASSIVE TURNOUT FOR THE KANSAS CITY TRAYVON MARTIN PROTEST ON THE PLAZA!!!

At least SEVEN HUNDRED PEOPLE have turned out to protest the shooting death of a Florida teen this afternoon AND they haven't even started yet. Traffic is slowing in the area. Lots of honking in support. More pics coming up . . .

The march has started with the crowd naming Kansas City people killed by recent violence.

The organizer started the protest by saying: "We're not only here for Trayvon Martin but for our youth and the people who have been killed in this city."

Report . . . Mayor Sly seen here along with Council Dudes John Sharp and Jermaine Reed.

I said hi to Council Lady Jan. She said she was here to show support.

A few other messages:

"Black people need to start to unite!"

"Black power"

And my fave: "Throw a peace sign up to change KC."

"No injustice should be tolerated."

And more than a few MLK quotes . . . Which seems appropriate.

Local leaders Clinton Adams and Gwen Grant were in the crowd.

Clinton Adams posing with a friend and offering the Black Power sign.

All things considered it was a great turnout and a very peaceful but enthusiastic crowd.

DEVELOPING . . .

  4. Good for all who showed, elected & other. What happened is a travesty, and we need to stop the NRA and the racists who think it's ok to kill the "other."

  8. Come back and tell me about justi after they execute Roderi,k Nunnelly and Michael Taylor for their 1985 rape/murder. 27 years on death row because they might feel some pain.

  9. Where was this out cry from the black community when that white child was lit on fire by the two black kids?

If there was a large group of whites protesting that, the black community would label them as racist.

  10. So the murder today, did that get mentioned? How about the 22 other murders this year in KC? These professional activists don't need to cross state lines to find violence. Of course that doesn't fit the profile since the bulk of it is black on black.

  14. Clinton Adams and Gwen Grant... big damn surprise. There with all the usual suspects: Jermaine Reed, Sly James and the rest of the 3rd World (I mean 3rd District) grifters. Well, Clinton appears to be suffering from heart disease and HBP. So, we can at least eliminate him from future equations. Health is hard to get back once its been destroyed! Funny how he's destroyed his health like he's run the 3rd District into the ground. The difference is that the 3rd can be salvaged; his health well...

  15. Black Power....that says it all doesn't it. I dare say that is racism at it's finest point, and yet totally accepted as a normal practice by Tony as usual. God help us if I stood up and yelled white power. All 700 people would attack me for being white, and yet that somehow would still not make main stream media. Black Power it is!!!! The world is full of racist pricks, and black people are easily just as racist as any white person. Lets just accept this and move on. Make it politically correct to be racist, why fight it any more. I hate black people, and black people hate me because I'm the white devil. I feel better now don't you?
