TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! UMKC STUDENTS JOIN MISSOURI PETITION EFFORT TO FIGHT HIGHER TUITION!!!

Funding for education is often part of a divisive political game. Today, UMKC students decide it to get involved in local education funding taking a hit amid politically charged austerity.

To wit . . .

STUDENTS ACROSS MISSOURI SEEM TO BE ORGANIZING AGAINST EDUCATION CUTS THAT WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY RAISE FEES!!!

Take a look and read this bit of EXCLUSIVE testimony from a concerned student:

#moreforless

"Students are pissed off that the lawmakers think that they should be able to cut our funding and expect us to pay more. The Association Students of the University of Missouri at Columbia and Kansas City are pairing up with MSA (Missouri Students Association) at Columbia and with SGA (Student Government Association) at Kansas City to gather signatures and tell lawmakers we have had enough. The students aren't sitting complacent anymore, we have an agenda too: Getting an Education at an affordable cost. If the state needs more revenue many ways have been presented including increasing the sales tax on cigarettes as Missouri has the lowest tax on them in the nation."

-concerned student

Check out their efforts on Facebook.

Unfortunately, this might only offer a lesson that politicos only listen to lobbyists with deep pockets . . . BUT, college is a perfect time to garner that kind of information.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. Hopefully it's not the whining cry baby from a few days ago who wrote hIs admInstration at UMKC. If so, the student body is done.

I'm all for lower cost of education. FYI college kids--grown ups and politicos don't care about petty issues that college students complain about.

Still with goal of keeping education cost low.

Fuck you "students!" I want to make sexy time with the ignorant conservative vote, so you can all go to Hell.

  3. Jay must be really confident if he deliberately gives the finger to college students. If not - He's acting worse than that dancer of Madonna's from the superbowl.

  4. Tuition costs are complete B.S. Big government and big banks commiserating to make indentured servants out of young people. You know who the best employees are? Broke ones, that's who. People who owe tens of thousands of dollars don't bitch about their jobs or quit because they hate it. My first semester of college in 1990 was $500 for a full-time student. It is about that now per credit hour. Why did it take 87 years to reach $500 but just 20 years to reach such outrageous heights?

  5. As long as my son can get high, I really don't give a fuck.

  6. How the fuck does higher education continue to cost more than the rate of inflation for year after year after year? It's almost as bad as health care -- and at least there you have new treatments, new procedures, and new drugs to line the pockets of investors.

There's nothing like that in higher education. It's the same shit year after year.

Look at MU. Those people went right for the gold pot in the SEC, but whined to the state they needed more money to fund, well, something. WTF?

KU runs ad after ad for its hospital using celebrity actors, but continues to raise the price of college.

Does money evaporate? Does it spoil. What is going on here?

SHUT UP young people. Lick my ass. I hate you. I hate Obama. I hate all so-called minorities and women are just there to be sperm recepticals!

I am an aging, fat, White guy which means I get to rule the world with my bigot friends in rural Missouri. It is good to be in charge, and none of you will ever know that feeling!

  9. Now that is political satire I can respect. We love u Farting Jay!

  10. Looks like Jay is going to break his 2008 record for the least number of Democratic Yard Signs in Kansas City. (Signs on public property do not count.)
