JUST ANOTHER LOOK AT HOW KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS CAME TO AN END!!!

Jordan Carver illustrates this quick study of The Last Days Of The KCPS:

Apparently, the former Superintendent made sure his friends were paid on his way out: Covington tried to sweeten top administrators' severance pay

KSHB: A new bill passed by a Missouri senate committee could dissolve the unaccredited Kansas City Public Schools in less than a year.

Like it or not, The KCPS hasn't been a viable organization for years. The last days of the institution aren't really a conclusion but more of a search for something, anything new as an alternative to a system that has been broken beyond repair.

Thank you "Airwick" and the other kids who were elected to that last board.

  2. West and the others had an impossible task of saving a district that was lost a long time ago. Marilyn Simmons and her nepotism. Clinton Adams roaming the halls. Ron Hunt and hundreds of other contractors bilking the district with their "programs". And thousands of residents abandoning the east side.
And now some of the same people in the Urban Summit want to control the whole operation.
And just to show nothing has changed, the NMM insider contract scandal has just been uncovered by Ryan Kath at Channel 41.
Dissolve the KCPS and absorb the schools and students into surrounding districts and very early on separated those who want to learn from those who don't and park the latter at one selected building.
And responsible parents and concerned citizens throughout the district will thank you.

  5. If only Funk had been allowed to have his full-blown event at the Sprint Center, rather than the under funded event that he was charged with.

  6. We can't blame this one on the school board. It was Covington's idea. By the way, what's with getting severance pay when a person voluntarily leaves a job? I always thought severance pay was for people who were laid off.

  7. Funk's Sprint Center event would have made all the difference.

  8. FREE LEGAL ADVICE FOR THE DISTRICT:

Sue Covington for ALL of HIS severance pay NOW.

    WHY?

    * as an employee, so long as he was with the District, he had a LEGAL DUTY OF LOYALTY to his employer.

    * he VIOLATED this minimal level of duty when he unilaterally changed the severance contracts of people he wanted to follow him when he left -- this is amply clear because (1) the modified provision VIOLATED existing District Policy, and (2) he chose to withhold the fact that he had made these changes.

IN CONDUCTING HIMSELF IN THIS MANNER, HE VIOLATED HIS DUTY OF LOYALTY, MEANING HE HIMSELF BREACHED HIS CONTRACT. HAVING DONE SO, HE CANNOT ENFORCE THE DISTRICT TO PAY HIM SEVERANCE PAY.

SUE HIM NOW -- GET BACK ALL THE MONEY YOU WITLESS FOOLS PAID HIM!!!!!!!!!

  9. While it it highly unlikely, getting the district accredited is not impossible.

Green is perfect for the job. He is extremely boring. No other district is going to steal him away. If he focuses on the 14 points of accreditation, which no news outlet is willing to take on, then things will actually change. Only 6 of the 14 have to do with test scores.

All everyone talks about is the board.
Let's find out the specifics. Why isn't KCPS getting the 8 points that have nothing to do with test scores? What are these 8 points? What are they doing to get those 8 points?
