TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! GOVERNMENT WANTS MONEY BACK AFTER REPORT FINDS JANE MOBLEY ASSOCIATES OVERCHARGED ON HUGE ACCOUNT!!!

This afternoon we deliver more consequences of the investigations of super reporter Russ Ptacek.

Remember this item . . .

GSA officials at Bannister spend tax dollars on $234,000 public relations contract

As usual . . . Every word of the Ptacek report rang true.

To wit . . .

This Goliath, this Cadillac among Kansas City journalists and men has actually managed to save taxpayers a bit of cash.

A RECENT GOVERNMENT REPORT CONTENDS THAT JMA OVERCHARGED ON THEIR HUGE CONTRACT AND NOW OWES MONEY BACK!!!

In every sense of the word, here's the money line:

"JMA incorrectly invoiced the Government under the task order extension; as a result, JMA owes a refund in excess of $32,000."

The government defines the sitch:

"Media reports in late 2009 and early 2010 raised questions regarding toxic substance health risks at the Bannister Federal Complex (Complex) in Kansas City, Missouri. In response to these reports, the Heartland Region’s (Region) Public Buildings Service (PBS) awarded task order GS-P-06-10-GX-0012 to Jane Mobley Associates, Inc. (JMA). This task order was awarded on February 5, 2010, for $99,940.25 and required JMA to provide communications consultant services for the period February 5 to March 8, 2010. The task order was extended to May 10, 2010, for an additional cost not to exceed $134,400.00, based on JMA’s actual labor hours expended during the extension period. The cost of the task order (base period plus extension) totaled $234,338.08."

Read the whole deal for yourself if that kinda thing is your bag, baby:

Review of Public Buildings Service's Procurement of Public Relations Services at the Bannister Federal Complex Task Order GS‐P‐06‐10‐GX‐0012

And now here's the recommendation . . .

"Instruct the contracting officer to issue a demand letter to JMA for the total amount that JMA overbilled the government under the subject task order."

Needless to say . . . There's no fighting the Feds so add this up to a huge loss for a prestigious local PR Firm.

And count another notch in the bedpost of Kansas City journalism as Russ Ptacek expertly services this town with reports that keep us all safe from nuke plants and public relations flacks.

  1. They should stick to doing business with KCMO. They never check to see if they got their money's worth.

  3. Bad deal for the pr biz in kc. The real backstory is that there will be more outsourcing to agencies outside kc. Denver wins in this battle.

  6. Jane is a big friend of Kay Barnes and got TONS of dough from no-bid contracts. Her shop is a joke and her skills are non existent. I dunno whom she slept with (Joe Serviss maybe?) but it paid off for years.

  8. Shudda called the Rev's Ol' Friend Elbert Anderson and his company Group 53. At least we already know he's a crook. The way this one's goin' down, it will be months before we know how much has been stolen...

  9. Jane Mobley is just as bad as Elbert Anderson. She's bad to the bone.

  10. Somebody ought to check the Public Relations Contract for the East Patrol Crime Lab. Wonder what they paid that crazy, liar. Public relations? What a damn joke! Negros have got to do better. They're great in their 20's but somewhere along the way they fall off; like commonsense is no longer commonsense. Huh? Maybe it's a medical issue.
